I ordered a new set of gaskets. I have a new set of GM lenses. The gasket is too thin to seal. The screws won't tighten all the way. Anyone else have this problem?

What are you guys using to seal the blower box to the firewall? From the factory it was a pumpable sealant. What is todays equivalent. Should it be black, white or grey then painted?

Restoration / DZ motor mount to frame bracket bolt, washer and nut

From the AIM I find that the nut is a Marsden (locking castle type nut) and the washer is a heavy 1/8" thick unit. Under the RPO Z/28 section the left mount has a different assembly. What is different?

Thanks for the good report Jerry M.

Since I installed my transmission and rebuilt DZ I have had a stiff operating clutch when the car is fully warmed up. When cold it works fine. Could this be an alignment issue? The block, bellhousing and tranny never met each other before I introduced them. I am pulling the drivetrain during bodywork and will check the alignment for sure now, but is stiff, sticky and hard to shift the clutch when warmed up a symptom of mis-alignment?

What paint is anyone using for the argent grilles. I know it is not gloss. I understand code 16 is the number. I would asume that the paint needs to be hard to resist bugs and washing.

Can the parking light housings be replated? The wiring must be removed. Has anyone done this? If not how good are the repros?

I have what I believe are 2 GM grilles. One has an extra thick eggcrate wall where the hood latch lever goes. The other does not. Any idea which is right?

In the AIM the emblems are located by reference lines. How are the reference lines located. What does circle 20 for the Z/28 emblem reference?

Were the engine lift brackets painted or unpainted steel for a DZ engine? How about other engines. I have heard that not all engines had them when they left the factory. That they could have been removed and reused.

In the RPO lst on this website, Z21 lists "bright belt moldings". What is the belt molding? Also doesn't Z21 include the chrome gills and chrome around the headlamp bezel?

Maintenance / Original vented gas cap

It has taken me a while to get my DZ to idle correctly. Yesterday I got some gas and the tank was pressurized. Is a vented gas cap supposed to hold any pressure? If it holds pressure could that affect how the car runs?

Restoration / 302 head rebuild

The heads are off due to excessive guide clearance on my new 200 mile rebuild (don't ask). I want to make sure they are excactly right this time. The valves and springs are originals. What should I replace these two items with for a stock rebuild. Just go with GM replacements? This is not a race car, just a cruiser. Thanks.
