« on: January 02, 2009, 03:15:26 PM »
Were the clamps originally plated or bare steel finish? The bolts I assume had the same phosphate finish as other bolt.

« on: November 02, 2008, 01:43:49 AM »
I am restoring my YH wheels. The last set I used the OEM spray can paint. For 1969 I understand the argent had a green tint. I am thinking to have the painter do it this time. Is there a paint code?

Jerry, have you raced any '70 Z/28s with the LT-1 in your stock classes? Have any beat your car?

Originality / Original gas tank
« on: April 20, 2008, 05:27:41 PM »
Were they painted or plated? I removed my tank and it appears to be painted black over mild steel. Looks like it has never been removed. The inside is definitely plated zinc or galvanized.

Restoration / OER latex trunk seal
« on: March 20, 2008, 03:37:01 AM »
I found out this past weekend that the OER latex trunk seal absorbs water like a sponge. It does not work like a seal to stop water. Anyone else have this problem and what are you using? The GM replacement seal is too hard to let the trunk lay flat. I will the Metro seal next.

General Discussion / Value for insurance
« on: December 06, 2007, 04:13:43 AM »
I am very close to finishing my car. 1969 Z/28 (X33) with original differential, non-matching DZ and M20. All the dated components are matched to the engine. All original GM sheetmetal was refinished. I have used the best trim etc. (most NOS) and restored as many parts I could. The paint is a quality job. Everything was rebuilt except the differential which did not need it. NADA lists the low, med, hi prices as $25K, $45K and $84K. I don't consider this car a 100 point car by any means. I haven't added all the receipts but I am sure it is less than $45K. I am thinking $45-50K agreed value. Am I too low? Any opinions? Thanks.

Originality / Hood catch bolt type
« on: November 21, 2007, 03:34:20 PM »
I was reading on another board that the hood catch bolt has a cone washer with 6 points. The '69 AIM shows the same bolt (#3846202) for the hood catch and for the inner fender to radiator support. That application does not have any points. Is the AIM wrong?

Restoration / Battery hold down clamp bolt
« on: November 07, 2007, 05:15:52 AM »
Sorry for this small anal question, but what is the orginal bolt for the battery hold down clamp? The size is 5/16NC but does it have a captured washer and no threads on the end just like a door hinge bolt?

Restoration / 69 Camaro emblem location
« on: June 01, 2007, 04:14:08 AM »
My right fender is an original GM that never had the Camaro emblem located. I can make a template from the left fender but I have no way of locating the holes correctly on the fender. Can someone give me one of the holes locations measured from the crease and from the edge of the fender?

Also does anyone know if the semblem tation lines from the AIM are the same from side to side? I know that the station lines are useless by them selves. If they are I can locate them from the left side on the template and use them for the right side. Help!

I used the .028" GM composite head gasket. Do they require re-torqueing?
