Referring to photo 112, has the side cowl panel been replaced?  I couldn't see the partial hidden VIN.

All you have to do is cut both hidden vin section out of trashed parts car and weld it in both areas on car where hidden vins are, that’s been done over and over. Very common when people change cowl sections on the actual car that a certain vin came from originally. You also often see vins and trim tags for sale with metal sections from a beyond repair car.

The only thing I see that makes it harder and harder to do that is people like William!
You are correct.  I have been on three different inspections with JM and seen exactly what you have described.  They can smooth out the wield from the top of hidden VIN from but you can clearly see the patch and wield from the backside.

OK, he must be mixing new and old photos because photo #249 shows the coil with a blue wire.  Another example is photo #244 showing the valve cover emblem missing and #220 with it installed.  Thanks.

I believe you are correct.  GM built 20,302 Z's and there over 100,000 on the road or in collections.  Can you tell what photo 304 is supposed to show?  Its looks like the back of the intake manifold and the cowl area.  Trying to figure what the yellow paint is from.  Thanks.

Now the seller is saying that this is a non matching numbers car.  By the photos given how can one determine that this is a Z/28 Camaro?  There are no photos of the tail pipe adaptor or where the speedometer cable exits the firewall.

Listing in the past on this car states “ Under the hood is a correct, but non numbers matching 302 with the stamped sequence”.  Must have found it’s orphaned engine in the last ten years.   ???

Was wondering if anyone had noticed the ebay rivets and the crusty VIN.  Car was for sale last year and it had an automatic in it.

I miss going to Jimmy Cones in Fredrick MD.   ;)

Say its not so!  We have a cabin up in Dennis Cove (Hampton Tn).  That cruise in was the ONLY thing happening in Elizabethon on a Saturday evening.  You could park your car and bring a lawn chair and meet some really nice folks.  Walk down to the ice cream shop and get a cone and you were good to go!  A few years back my brother who was on leave from the AF brought his Grand National, me with the Z.  Just really good memories.  One time while racing at Bristol I took Jerry M. up there and he really enjoyed himself.  He did get a little scared when I took him up the mountain to Dennis Cove (said he heard banjo music)!  :D

General Discussion / Z's 40th Birthday this week
« on: December 15, 2008, 01:50:08 AM »
HI,

The wife and me just realized that our Z's 40th birthday is coming up this week.  Is there any way we could pin down the day it was assembled?  The VN is 1234379N565085.  Thanks in advance.

69s are unique, having holes along the front of the top rail to mount the condenser.
Those holes were a running change, implemented in January 69, IIRC. My 01B car doesn' t have them.

My 12C car has them.

What I like about the 4th edition is: 1) All photos are sharper, and some are even larger  2) New photos in the color photo gallery, I like the car owned by Gary Sommers, he drives it like he stole it! ;)  3) font is easier on the eyes to read 4) New information on the work order numbers scheduling codes 5) ZL-1 story has been added, there is still quite a few of them in the unknown status, you just never know where one could be hidding at.  Just a few of the changes I have noticed so far.

I just got my copy today and was I surprised!  I know what I will be doing tonight.  Thanks Jerry! ;D
