Since both cars have altered tags there is no way to know original build configuration. Buyer beware.

The car was a very late 06A based on VIN. I saw it over 10 years ago and will check if I still have notes on it. I did take a photo of the carb w/lines & bracket attached. I'm guessing an early 06A would not have the bracket based on what is known.

It was in a farm field untouched for 26 years-probably still there. Just about anything of value had been removed and was piled in a shed.

When I was involved in a Camaro business in the '80s we used to go to the Pomona CA swap meet a couple times a year. One of the locals had a small business converting vinyl-rim NK1 wheels to real wood. He would strip off the vinyl, replace it with wood and re-finish. Probably was not worth the work.

This may be one of his wheels.

There is/was a one-owner Aug '69 coupe about a mile from here that had one of each.

A true '67 SS hood had a different part number than the later '68-'69 version. The 'stacks' required punched holes for the drains.

I provided that one and several other shipper copies from Martz Chevrolet Menomonee Falls WI when JM did the '69 book 20 years ago. Doug Martz started a Camaro business in the area, I helped out for many years. Dealership and building are long gone.

It is officially known as an extension and is shown in section ZL2 page A3 in the 1969 Camaro Assembly Instruction manual. It fits into the air cleaner body; the flange/seal assembly mounts on top of it.

How was it re-attached?

For '69 the back-up lights were activated by a switch at the base of the steering column inside the car. With the reverse lock-out system, placing the trans in reverse rotated the column, activating the switch.

The body number was generated when Central Office confirmed the dealers order. Many orders were cancelled and never built for a variety of reasons; about 27% to be exact. Also, cars were not built in body number order. The next car off the line might have a number 10,000 higher/lower than yours. All this makes knowing the number impossible without original paperwork.

Repro tags are easy to spot and will raise suspicions about the car.

Upper control arms were assembled to the shaft with the bushings, then dip painted black. Ball joint added afterwards. So the shafts were painted to begin with but it did not adhere well. If you look closely at the Hot Rod test car it is apparent.

Very well done engine bay David!

William,

Were the washer and bolts added after the A-arm was mounted to the frame, or was it part of the completed and painted assembly (minus the tightening of the bolts of course).

Mike

Washer and bolt were installed and painted with the control arm. The only vintage road test photo I know of where it is clearly visible is the July '68 PHR test of a '68 Camaro SS.
