Decoding/Numbers / Caveat Emptor...only looks like a '69

From the ad:

The SS '69 Camaro offered here is an excellent example: classic good looks with respectfully upgraded performance.

The Camaro's original build and identification tags remain as mounted at the Norwood, Ohio assembly plant.

If that is true, it was a '68 restored as a '69.

I have seen plenty of misleading ads, this is a new low.

From the ad:

"This car is a X11 SS as denoted by the trim tag."

It was a 6-cylinder car as denoted by the VIN tag. Wasn't an SS the last time it was for sale.

http://classiccardb.com/chevrolet/429331-camaro-convertible-turn-key-car-and-no-reserve.html

"During the restoration, a rebuilt 396 engine was added."

Still has the standard production heater, crossmember, 10 bolt rear axle.

Decoding/Numbers / Caveat Emptor...Numbers matching?

From the ad:

"This 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 is finished in Garnet Red with black stripes over black vinyl upholstery and is powered by a numbers-matching 302ci V8..."

The V0120DZ stamping does not compare with other January 1969 Z/28 engine stamps. Block appears to have been decked.

Decoding/Numbers / Caveat Emptor...non-OE rivets

Although the VIN and body tags appear to be real, they were removed from the car during the restoration. They were poorly re-installed using non-automotive rivets. Be aware this could result in registration problems.

From the ad:

"This is an original X22 SS396 with style trim Big Block car with the D80 Air Spoiler Equipment..."

"...a 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible in 'Matte Black' (from it's original Tuxedo Black) with it's original factory 'Black Houndstooth' bucket seats interior..."

Easy to spot a repro tag when there are two errors.

Decoding/Numbers / Caveat Emptor...a mess

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1969-chevrolet-camaro-z-28-46/

124379N682892

That is the VIN listed in the ad. The photos of the car in process show VIN 124379N507986 and a 09B body tag. Body tag shows original paint/trim as 65 B 711. The stripped body in the alleged before photos show 59 59 721 paint/trim.

No idea what is going on here but the car is being sold out of a shop in Longmont, Colorado. That should be a black flag for anyone.
