Usually not a problem adjusting them, but unadjusting, when you want to get the drums off.

The stock knock outs are through the drums.

Lloyd,
I went through the last box of old parts and didn't find the trunk tape, must be it didn't come off very well or I just didn't save it.

Lloyd,

I have been looking through the saved parts I removed during my restoration for the tape that came off the trunk, no luck yet but I still have one box over the garage to look through. I'll let you know if I find it.

General Discussion / Re: 69 2 piece rotors

I will agree with Kurt and others those holes are for balancing the rotor assembly. One of my original 28K mile rotors did not have any balance holes and had this paint mark on it. The other side had three holes and no paint. My guess would be they were all checked, and anything out of spec got balanced, and any that were in spec got a paint mark to show they were checked.

Restoration / Re: radiator shrould bolt

Thanks William for the idea to look for other places in the car that used the same fastener.

I looked at the Z10 I am restoring last night. A lot of stuff on it has been messed with over 50 years, but I am pretty sure these places had not been touched. The plastic gas pedal bushing and the steering column all had the same 4 screws that Pete showed, but with an E on the the head.

Now to convince the Legend Judges you don't need the small bolt with the big washer on the radiator shroud...

Try taking out the bleeder screws one at a time and see if get any fluid when you press the pedal slowly. I had the right rear wheel cylinder hole behind the bleeder plugged and it drove me nuts because that's the first one your supposed to bleed.

Not sure if you changed the three rubber lines, but they can fail over time, crack the hard lines in front of them if you don't get any fluid with the bleeder screws out.

I've seen that picture before... The tape was a rubber coating on a canvas backing, kind of like an "old" air mattress before they were made of plastic. It was Black in color. I never found a good replacement.

Good point James. Did original rear seat covers have the White stitching like the front? Mice snacked on mine long ago.

Anyone have an idea why there would be a line for a 3.73 and 4.10 rear gear?

Mine had similar writing in Red as well, but mine was all numbers. I think I found the 487 written on something else in the interior, but can't remember what off the top of my head.

Nice looking car, I like the Color...

Any changes from stock in the engine? What numbers did you get off the dyno?

Is the car still in NY?

1969 - Orphans / 19N568469 V1218DZ Block
« on: September 11, 2017, 11:33:09 PM »
This is another engine from my fathers collection he stashed away years ago , a 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 302 engine , chevy small block motor . This empty motorBlock has the following casting numbers# 3932386 date coded L128 , stamped V1218DZ on the front stamping pad , the Vinstamping by the oil filter looks to be 19N368469. The casting numbers in the timing area are : 371 G47 386 and HB outside the timing cover area . Casting numbers in the bell area are : 636 678 371 386 H3 . Casting numbers near the oil filter are :371 386 62N .
  This 4 bolt main block was large journal 2.45 , and used for 1969 350 Corvette 300/350hp. , Camaro 1969 302 z/28 , and 1968 69 327 Passenger car nova chevelle .
This one as my uncle told me the story goes , my father worked in the Oldsmobile dealership garage and had friends that worked at the chevy dealerships garages . He Got this block from one of the friends that worked at the chevy dealership . A guy had bought a 1969 Camaro Z/28 302 car newput about 5000 miles on it , he walked out to it next day and it was leaking oil on his garage floor . He took it back to the dealer to fix the oil leak they could 'nt fix it soChevrolet sent him out a warranty replacement block . They took every thing off the old block and put it in the new one and put the new warranty block in the car and away he drove.
My uncle said the problem with the block was the push in plug above the oil filter { as pictured } , and if you look at the picture it looks like the mechanic tried to peen it over more to seal it, But it must not have worked .
This has been sitting for years, about 35 or 40 , It has surface rust from sitting around , the cylinder walls were greased at one point and the spots where they were surface rusted it cleaned right of for the most part with a wire wheel in a drill { as pictured}.My father also greased the lifter bores again many years ago.
I have more pictures if needed , if you have any questions please ask , and if shipping is needed ask I might be able to do something . I also have on another auction a mostly complete 1968 MO code z/28 302engine, if you have any questions call 585 -682-5595 no text please this number don't get them .
