General Discussion / Re: CRG Forum is back up!
« on: October 12, 2017, 02:31:34 AM »
Ok so Gary has been busy!

I sold 3 project cars and some parts (but bought a few more parts because of great prices). Overall, downsizing.  Kinda looking for a big block or Z project car, but thats off the record! It’s not a want ad!

How about the rest of you?

I bought a Mopar because this site was down!!! My first non GM car 😁. AAR Cuda...

Steve, being in CRG withdrawal is a bad thing, but at least you bought a nice alternative.. :)    I really like the AARs and TA cars...  in fact, I almost bought a new one in 1970, and helped a friend of mine find and restore one of each... Orange/black TA and an orange AAR (with auto and bench seat).. :)

Here are photos ... coming out of my homemade paintbooth, and finished in the 2nd photo...

Steve:  What color/options for the AAR you purchased?  :)

Gary the car is red-red 4spd. Being  Trans Am  cousin to the Z i've always liked them. They are very unique car with a lot of cool features.

Shauger's car is 10 B 729 endura isn't it?

Yes my cars a 10B 729. In fact what i like about it, is that the seats have never been recovered and absolutely like new because original owner installed clear plastic seat covers. Not the car William is referencing, because my car was alway in Buffal, Ny, prior to my purchase in 1999. It sold new at Dave Hallman Chevrolet in Hamburg, NY

Saw this car on ebay, it looks nice. Unfortunately no engine pics, or tag pics. Looks like it may have original paint?

Steve do you remember this car by chance?

Yes this was Vintage Certified and achieved our Legend award. This was a very un-fluffed and very original to achieve Legend in our program. If someone is truly interested and needs further information you can contact me.

Originality / Re: Fuel Pump Plate finish
« on: July 15, 2017, 04:43:06 PM »
This picture is from a Baltimore built 11A 68 chevelle with 5K miles and untouched. I will look for more pics, but what I've seen are primarily bare metal and perhaps a few that appear black. From what I recall the engines were not fired with gasoline at either Tonawanda or Flint, and in fact the plate and fuel pump were not installed, which is why the plate is not orange. The plate and pump were installed on the Chevrolet side of the Norwood plant in the engine dress area.

Steve:
That's more like what I'm accustomed to seeing on Chevys since the 50's...   Is that one a dealer sold/installed accessory?
Thanks for the great pictures Steve, that confirms what I had figured out as correct for the underhood lamp.

Just for clarification this is U26 Underhood Lamp assembly. I posted this at the request of Tim. I don't want to confuse anyone.

No apology necessary Gary, there's so many things we may never learn about who supplied what and how it was all put together by each assembly plant. That's why I asked the original question, and Bentley's lamp could be OE too. But I'm very glad to see Steve's pictures above! As well as the trunk lamp, my car has under-dash courtesy lights, and remains of wiring that appears to be for the glovebox and ashtray lamps too. So I think it probably came with ZJ9, but can't be sure as most of the wiring was pulled by original owner.
I do have an under hood lamp assembly, although that one isn't from my car (it was an sYc classified ad score). As with the trunk lamp, there are many types of underhood lamp that purport to be correct for '67-'69 Camaros, but each has different details. As far as I can tell, the OE-correct style should have a single black wire, a hole in the back of the curved reflector (heat dissipation?), and two round mounting holes - later versions, possibly service replacements, seem to have at least one slotted mounting hole, and no hole in the reflector.

Here are a few pics of an original I had squirreled away. It came with installation instructions for Camaro & Chevelle, and has mounting screws and wiring wraps for routing the wire. The illustration show how to take up extra wire if mounting for a small block LH side.

Here's a few pics of the trunk lamp on my orange Z. Disregard the orange overspray from a repaint years ago.

Trans-Am Camaros / Bridgehampton Raceway Poster
« on: April 23, 2017, 01:57:52 PM »
I'm a member of our local car club, Peconic Region AACA, which has a indoor swap meet late February every year. I was looking around for memorabilia and all I found was a reproduction poster which I bought. The poster is the Can-Am Challenge at Bridgehampton Raceway Sept 13 & 14 1969. As I was carrying the poster a member who lives in Bridgehampton said "if you want an original poster I'll give you one at the next club meeting". Well true to his word, last Thursday he walked into the meeting and handed me this poster. He certainly put a smile on my face. BTW he worked at the raceway as a teenager and has many interesting stories...

The owner of the car reached out to me the last time it was for sale. I offered my opinion at his request and informed him of all the issues I found with the car. He stated he had gotten a differing opinion from a known Camaro expert/ business in MI. It was not HBC just for clarification.
