I just had my intake manifold for my 67 ceramic coated. it really looks good, It has a slight shine to it and looks like the natural cast iron but with silver tone to it not high polished chrome. Anyone else ever ceramic coat parts? What are your thoughts on doing this?

Decoding/Numbers / finding matching vin or cowl tag
« on: December 16, 2006, 08:53:37 PM »
Now this may be a real stupid question but,,,,,,,,
Is there a way to find the matching numbers for a firsti generation car if you only have either the cowl tag or the vin tag secured to the car but not both? Is ther a way to find out what information should be on the missing tag?

Maintenance / headlamp lost power
« on: October 29, 2006, 04:58:00 PM »
OK all you CRG electrical gurus I need some guidance.
My wife and I were coming home from our nephews wedding last night and I began losing the brightness on the driver side headlamp of our 67 Camaro. I figured I would change the lamp this morning. I went and bought two halogen lamps, a little upgrade!
I remove the "bad lamp" and replaced it with one of the new ones. Turned on the lights to check to make sure I had it connected ok and,,,,,,,,, the new halogen was weaker then the passenger side. It looked like I never even changed the lamp out. Any ideas what would cause this? Or is it becasue I did not replace both of them yet? I wasn't going to waste time putting them both in if I had maybe something wrong with the harness or the socket of the drivers side harness.

Mild Modifications / Switching from a pwrglide to a TH350
« on: October 09, 2006, 01:27:45 PM »
Gentlemen:
Are there any major changes required if I wanted to change my pwrglide in my 67  to a TH350? How difficult would it be to keep the console intact with the shifter? Is there a kit that replaces the pwr glide numbering system to the 3 speeds in the TH350?

Just curious

Originality / 3352 block
« on: September 05, 2006, 01:20:42 PM »
OK CRG I need some guidance!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This past weekend I was at a car show and was talking to a few fellow Camaro owners. One had a "3352" block for sale that came out of his "67 Camaro. The casting date according to this person is B 8 or 9 ( can't remember for sure) of 67.  My cars build date is the first week of April in '67. He stated it was a 350 but did not have numbers off the front pad. He said these were eliminated when he had it decked a few years back and then decided to drop a 383 Crate into his Camaro instead of using the block. Anyways, the price is good, includes the crank and pistons. Has anyone ever seen a 3352 block in a '67 other than a 327?? I know CRG states that the 3352 was available for the SS350 but all I have ever seen or have ever heard discussed was the 2657 block. If I were to purchase this engine, would it be considered a numbers matching for my car?  ??? ???

Thanks

Decoding/Numbers / Rear Axle Stamp
« on: August 31, 2006, 12:15:26 PM »
I purchased the "By the Numbers" book and to say the least, it is loaded with tons of info.I have been taking down numbers from my 67 Camaro and have been finding out as I was told at time of purchase, almost all the drive train is not original. But I am not sure about the rear axle. The numbers that I could find are "BP0403GG2, which from what I find in "BTN" is a 2:73 gear built on April 3rd at Detroit Gear on the 2nd shift in 1968. I have also been told that this is a correct date for a 67.Any thoughts CRG????? Am I deciphering it wrong?  By the way, the build date for my car is the First week of April 67.

Thanks

General Discussion / RS/SS options
« on: August 07, 2006, 04:56:40 PM »
I went to a Car Show this past weekend and saw a few cars (67 and 68) the were RS/SS  that were showing as original but none of them had 350's or 12 bolt rear ends. What was the "rule of thumb" when these two options were purchased together? I would have thought the SS package would override the RS and force the 350 and 12 bolt rear end. But now I have no clue ???

Enlighten me CRG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Originality / multileaf rear suspension on 67?
« on: July 19, 2006, 10:47:22 PM »
Has anyone ever seen an multi leaf suspension on a 67? I noticed in the RPO spreadsheet that a G30 code for 67 was a special multi leaf suspension that required rear bumper guards but there are no numbers showing how many were built. Also you could not get a G30 with F40 ( heavy duty front and rear suspension) or F41 (special purposes front and rear suspension) with this G30 code. What were the F40 and F41 codes made up of in regards to springs and shocks? Was a sway bar part of either package.

Thanks !!!!!!!

Maintenance / Replacing rear housing
« on: July 12, 2006, 06:05:59 PM »
Has anyone ever attempted to change just the rear end "cabbage head" to convert a rear end from a 10 bolt to a 12 bolt? Is this even possible or is there more to it than that? I know you have to remove the axles , shafts and the splines and every thing else. But would all these parts from a 10 bolt match up to the 12 bolt cabbage head and would the time effort be worth it compared to switching out the 10 for a complete 12?

Restoration / windsheild moulding clips
« on: July 02, 2006, 04:27:46 PM »
??? Are there different moulding clips used for the windsheild and rear moulding if you have a vinyl roof? The front upper moulding on my 67 camaro keeps popping loose and I don't know if I just have to replace the clips that are installed or if there is a differnet clip used on cars that have vinyl roofs.

Restoration / Replacing horn and cap
« on: June 29, 2006, 11:05:10 AM »
I am in the process of replacing the horn parts of the steering wheel in my 67 Camaro. I ordered a repair kit for the horn and when it arrived it had all the parts I expected but it also has something I did not find on my car when I removed the horn cap. I received a rubber "donut" for lack of a better term, that appears to be something that is installed onto the back of the horn cap. Is this a true statement if so, what is the purpose?

General Discussion / big block 350 ??
« on: June 23, 2006, 11:35:44 AM »
Anyone ever hear this term for a 350 or ever seen one? I've been told that in the 60's this was an engine put into Impalas. If so, what was the difference from the SB 350?
