169INDY - Thanks for the photo and reply.  I'll add this to the information I am gathering.

I slightly readjusted the front sheet metal to gain better access for the outboard clips. So now I have trim mocked up but still cannot get any confirmation as to what fastener is correct for the outboard locations.  The parts houses have replacements for the center clips but no mention of the outboard jobs.  Looking for someone in the midst of a resto with the original screws to post a photo of one against a ruler so I have a visual reference to further the search.  Any help is appreciated.

HawkX66 - I have run through my assembly manuals for basic and RPO assembly and could find no illustration with the windshield trim or its attaching hardware.  Mine could be missing.  If you know of a sheet referencing this information please reply with the sheet number and I will check my manuals again.
Thanks.

Restoration / Windshield Lower Trim Clips & Outboard Screws

1. Re: the outboard clips -
Wish I had known about this being such a PITA before I got the front clip and hood on.  I've run the gamut searching threads on the net for how to install those stinking things with the fenders on.  All original clips and trim pieces so that part of the equation is not in question.  If I can get those end screws/clips installed then I'll attempt to drill the locating holes for the remaining clips in the center of the trim.

2. Re: Outboard Screws -
Can someone confirm the size/thread pitch etc. of the 2 screws that attach the outboard lower w/shield trim clips to the door jam at the cowl?    Mine have gone MIA and I don't want to auger out the hole with the wrong screw.  Are they the same as the attachment screws for the lower trim center clips?

Many veterans of full restorations on this forum so ANY of your insight is appreciated!

Restoration / Re: Cowl Hood Accel Lever Finish
« on: July 19, 2023, 08:10:51 PM »
The arm had a lot of oil/dirt encrusting it when I pulled it off.  When that was removed it had a dull dark gray finish on it.  So there may be some of the original phosphate finish still there.
Thanks again for the info.

Restoration / Cowl Hood Accel Lever Finish

Looking for feedback on correct finish for the cowl hood accelerator lever and bolt.  After the grunge was removed it looked like it may have had some black paint on the lower part near the clamp bolt.

Hey, SMKZ28 -
Regarding your prior post in this thread "It is parked at the very top of the photo above the man standing next to the guardrail ".  Something struck me about that guy in the hat next to the guardrail.  He reminds me lot of Smokey Yunick.  Especially the hat style, tall, lanky etc.  It's a long shot, but it's a major race event and he wouldn't be out of place there.  Anyone else see the resemblance?

I feel for the owner as that Z10 was in nice shape.  Good grief...that brings back unpleasant memories.  Same sideswipe collision(even same side) trashed my 58K mile 69 SS car when I was 19.  85 year old man decided to make a left turn across two lanes of a three lane divided highway to a median turn around.  Problem is my car was between their LeSabre and the turn around.  Took all extra savings from my summer student job plus the insurance payout to get it repaired the way I wanted it.  I still recall the old guys name 47 years later, lol.

Agree with Jonesy. I installed my first set of headers on a '69 in 1974.  And I've never had headers that were compatible with a reverse lockout rod.  That lockout rod just wasn't a concern to us back then.   We would just wire up the lever so the column wouldn't lock and that was that.  The rod went into a take off parts box with the smog pump, tubes and manifolds for "someday".

I would reinstall that plenum setup.  Quite stealthy.  Plenum cutouts could be pretty crude as guys used any available tools to remove the sheet metal.  My buddy's '68 was the same way.  The adapter covered all that up, so it wasn't any issue for him.  It sure was a conversation starter at a cruise.

Took a good look at the firewall just to right of the vehicle center line(left of center from the photo perspective).  Looks like a cowl plenum cut out similar to what was available for the Z28's.  Or are my seasoned citizen eyes in error?
Can't say I've ever seen one on a big block other than my buddy's '68 that he bought as a roller about 20 years ago.  When he restored the car he made it functional.

I think "Monaco Orange" also applies to Chevelle SS models.

Sharp color & option combination.  Bumper really sets off that RS front end.

Some of those sealants can work their "magic" on the heater core as well.  As in completely blocked.
