Originality / Re: 1969 z/28 steering wheel
« on: September 28, 2016, 02:07:32 AM »
So, my vehicle should have black standard wheel with a pebble-grained shroud. Does having the style trim group "05Z21AC" change anything. I have wood grain appliques around the radio.

Originality / 1969 z/28 steering wheel
« on: September 28, 2016, 01:06:54 AM »
Was looking at my Body Broadcast sheet for early (Oct 1968) built z28 camaro. Box 59, "Strg Wheel", on Body Broadcast sheet  has "EA" in Box. Trying to determine what type of steering wheel vehicle came with. I could not find a reference to "EA" code.

Any suggestions of where to look?

More proof that your vehicle is authentic.

Hans L - Like your comments. It appears that original 1969 camaro's with a factory console received a front carpet that was left front and right front. In this discussion z28's were discussed. Is it  fair to say that if an original 1969 z28 came with a factory floor console then the front carpet should be in two pieces. Another interesting fact that may assist in vehicle verification.

General Discussion / Re: 302 Replacement Pistons

So, is it agreed that full floating piston pins do not generate a sound that makes the 302 sound different than a 302 with pressed piston pins.

Byron302, I didn't  realize that the full floating pins would make a difference in the sound. I do realize that solid lifters do make a cool sound.

X33RS, why didn't you use pressed pins instead of full floating pins? I believe Jerry McNeish uses pressed pins for the safety issue.

Thank you. I looked at the spread sheet. Good to know gas tank is original to vehicle.

how ever its read. Does the gas tank stamps mean that the gas tank is original or replaced?

My 69Z has a build date of 10D (4th week of October 1968). I looked at the gas tank code and found
"69 01". Not sure what that means. Does it mean First week of 1969. I think the tank is original but not sure. I'm the second owner.

General Discussion / Re: Hood Insulation "keepers"
« on: April 25, 2016, 09:40:31 PM »
My early (Oct 68)  built 69Z with flat hood came with hood insulation (05Z21AC Style Trim Group). When I bought the car I removed the insulation due to it being worn. Threw the insulation and clips into the garbage. Also threw away the hounds tooth trunk mat, due to it being torn and dirty. Didn't know any better back then...oops.

Like to see a list vendors whose 69 standard door panels do not have the lower section padded (EG. Distinctive, Legendary, ...). I know PUI are padded and very nice looking.

firstgenaddict, Is that why the lower sections of my original door panels have no cushion? When I press on the lower door panel section where the horizontal pleats are I don,t feel any cushion, just the backing. The PUI door panels I saw had a cushioned feel on the lower section pleats. I am wondering does anyone make 69 door panels that don't have cushioned lower section pleats.

JKZ27, I saw a pair of PUI 69 door panels. They did not have the vinyl seam. The vinyl was all one piece. They
looked great but not two piece vinyl.

General Discussion / Re: Chambered exhaust
« on: April 04, 2016, 12:30:31 AM »
Heard my first 69Z with chambered exhaust today at the "Cars and Coffee" meetup at the BlackHawk museum in Danville Ca. The exhaust sounded great. It had a
crisp clear sound. With that experience behind me, I am still on track to purchase and install the chambered exhaust system on my 69Z.
