Originality / Re: Short Spoiler Long Stud vs. Long Spoiler Long Stud
« on: March 28, 2021, 07:17:18 PM »
Good to know, interesting fact. By the way my deck lid stripes do not extend
to the bottom of the trunk lid, as seen on other 69z's.

Thank you

The weld beads on the right side spoiler studs appear to be brazed. The beads are brass in color and would be where the deck lid "Camaro" emblem would
have been mounted. My car (hugger orange) did not come with a deck lid "Camaro" emblem. The build sheet lists "05D80AA",  Air spoiler equipment
as one of the options.

Not sure. How do you determine that?

Pictures of rear spoiler mounting. October 68 LOS built. Short spoiler and short stripes (Stripe dimensions match assembly manual).
Spoiler bolts I think are dog ear. See picts.

Excellent topic. I have a Van Nuys 1969 z28. Build date Oct 1968. It has the shorter rear stripes. The stripe dimensions align exactly with the assembly manual stripe dimensions.

I have a 1968 September built 1969 Z28. The code for the wheels I have are K 1-8 9 20 AD.
Hope this helps with the discussion.

Make sure the horn works by applying a 12 volt source to one terminal on the horn and grounding the other terminal on the horn. You will have to pull the plastic connector off the horn first.
If the horn starts to work then you have to determine what is failing. Look at the fuse, horn relay and finally the wiring.

General Discussion / Re: A little help valuing one of my ‘69s

I noticed that the end of the rear deck lid is striped and has a short spoiler. My 69Z also has a short spoiler with the end of the rear deck lid is also striped. If the paint on this
69z is also original, then at least two early built LOS 69Z's had the rear stripes painted down the end of the rear deck lid from the factory.

Any comments ?

My early LOS built 69Z (Oct 1968) also has the stripes that go down the back of the trunk lid, I also have the short rear spoiler, and trunk lid torsion bars that are
different diameter. Paint is original as far as I can tell, no evidence of rear end accident, and I have the short rear stripes in the rear.

Here is a picture of my battery tray. I believe it to be original. 1969 z28  Los built October 1968.

BillOhio,

Are you saying you cannot disassemble the piston from the connecting rod. If this is a full floating piston pin,
all you have to do is remove one retainer. The pin should push out of that side of the piston boss. Sliding right through the connecting rod.

BillOhio,

Thanks for you input. Your picture shows the retainer for the piston pin. What really is needed is a nice close up photograph of the small end of the connecting rod, and the whole rod as well. Both
pieces are needed in order to have a full floating piston pin. You have posted a picture that
represents the piston side of the pin being retained. A picture is now needed that shows the connecting rod end. Hopefully showing the machining, and at this point should show wear pattern.

If you can please post the picture of the connecting rod.
