Decoding/Numbers / Re: Impossible to document?
« on: May 07, 2006, 02:21:04 PM »
The suggestion to try GM Canada is an excellent one. The first title in Washington state was 12/12/69, the car was one year old by then, it may started life up north. I know I've seen the Canadian info on the site before but does someone have it handy?
                  Thanks Pat

I did check that William, I  replaced the tank when I rebuilt the car. I have the old tank and it's not on it. It is possible that I could have disgarded it when I took the car apart in 76. There was not alot of research being done back then I would have had no idea what it was. I guess I should mention that the car is a Z-28 didn't state that in the first post, I need to proof read my posts more!

Decoding/Numbers / Impossible to document?

I have a car that to my knowledge cannot be proven as to what it is. I would appreciate any advice. I am not in the market to sell it but down the road it could make a differance.
I purchased it in 1975 at that time I didn't know what a DZ motor was.
The body tag is dated 12C Van Neys built.
The block is a CE short block cast A69 I decked it at rebuild so CE# is gone, heads, dist, alternator, all match production date of car.
Trans has VIN and is correct.
Rear is 12 bolt 4.10 posi and is date correct.
I restored the car in the late 70's early 80's all NOS parts. Only 76000 miles but I wanted it better.
The paint code is - - the car is garnet red with white stripes. I have the original hood and deck lid in original paint.
I have no doubt as to what the car is, I have knowledge of it back to 1970. And we didn't even think of building clones then.
Why when you could buy a real one for 2 to 3 grand!
I would appreciate any ideas
                            Thanks Pat

Mild Modifications / Re: Exhaust system for 67 ????
« on: March 15, 2006, 03:27:18 PM »
My son put a Flowmaster system on his 67 coupe. It is 2 1/2 inch and dual mufflers under the rear seat area. I was skeptical about fit and clearance problems. It was reasonable he bought it from Summit, it installed easily and fits great, we are totally satisfied with the system. Sounds great to. The convertable has extra frame members, you may want to talk to Flowmaster directly and ask about your application.
                                 Hope this helps.         Pat

General Discussion / 67 Smog
« on: February 25, 2006, 02:56:13 AM »
Does anyone out there need smog stuff for a 67? My son bought a car that came with the original manifolds, also there is a pump tubes and some brackets. If anyone needs it I will check the date code on the manifolds.

It seems I've seen pictures of Norwood Z's with alot of white over spray on the face of the firewall. My Van Nuys car had a pretty definitive line at the top of the fire wall. JohnZ would you mind elaborating on the two different plant procedures?

Yes the cowl was white. That must be why the special paint code, I believe that was done at the body factory. Right?

No such luck on the build sheet. I was told by someone who supposedly knows that the white stripes as opposed to black triggered the -- code. The base color is definetly Garnet Red
