Well I'm the suspicious type so I see it as you have 3 things that could have happened.

1) Someone replaced the front fenders and rear quarters with 67 sheetmetal
2) Somone removed the side markers and filled them in with a patch and/or filler
3) the car is a 67 and someone with dishonest intentions, swapped a 68 VIN , doors, and possibly a 68 Cowl tag on it.  (Which is why I asked you to check the hidden VIN)

First of all, welcome to the CRG!!!  You will indeed get some answers to your questions here.  This site is dedicated to the originality and restoration of first gen Camaros, with originality being the key word, and a great place to research how your car originally came about and how it's put together.  However, with all that being said, let me also suggest the Team Camaro site, http://camaros.net as a great source of information regarding modifications and a TON of information regarding auto-body repairs on our cars.  Check out their forums.  Between these two sites, I doubt there is anything that you can't find out and do for yourself.

Cheers!

It's easy enough to change the grill.  It's been done lots.  It's possible someone changed out the front fenders, RS assemblies, rear 1/4 panels, etc with 67 items, but I'm thinking at this point, you should be trying to locate the hidden VIN numbers beneath the cowl vent on the pass side, or beneath the heater box on the firewall if you decide to take the fenders off.  I'd like to compare the hidden VIN number with the actual VIN number.  Here's some help finding the partial/hidden VINs on the car:

http://www.camaros.org/numbers.shtml#PartialVIN

Is there anyway you could post pics of your VIN, Cowl Tag, and POP?  If you don't want to post them, email them to Kurt or Daniel.  If you don't have a digital camera, try to type out what's on those items.  We can help you much better with all of the info.  Besides, giving the CRG guys (Kurt, Daniel, Rich, Doug, ?) the info for the Registry is always a great idea.

Cheers,

Restoration / Re: L30/M20 firewall pic needed...
« on: October 29, 2005, 01:34:57 PM »
Actually, the Saginaw M20 speedometer cable did actually go through the firewall where he stated.  The Muncie M20 goes through where RickH stated.  Remember, M20 is just a term for 4spd standard transmissions.  Not all M20s are equal.  The L30/M20 got the lower performance Sag 4spd when coupled with the L30 327/375 HP engine, and it's speedometer cable was longer and went through the firewall on the driver's side of the steering column, where as the Muncie's speedo cable went through on the passenger's side of the steering column.

Restoration / Re: RUSTED inner quarter panel!!!!!!!!!!!!!
« on: October 29, 2005, 01:29:15 PM »
ok, I understand where you mean.  As RickH said, you can't buy that piece.  You'll have to find a donor car.  You can buy the peice that is actually part of the wheel well behind the inner rear quarter window panel (better description?), But not the rear interior panel itself.  Oh, also as RichH stated, Pics are best when trying to describe something, and spell checker is your (and our) friend.

Best of Luck,
Christropher

Restoration / Re: !/4 panel supports

They aren't being reproduced.  The only 2 options you have are finding them from a donor or just fabricating some which really isn't that difficult.  You just need something in there for support.

Very nicely done Kurt.  I look forward to your remaining documentary endeavors.

Newbie isn't a demeaning term.  It just means you are new.

Are the side marker lights present on the rear quarters?  Sounds like someone swapped the front clip with a 67 front clip.  Kevin did a great job of covering most of the other questions I would have asked.

Thanks again Kurt, I'll try to dig my rear belts out of one of the boxes they are in and see if they still have the tag on them.  Sorry it took me so long to reply.

Are you referring to the outer rear wheel wells?  All the major restoration shops (Ricks, NPD, etc) sell all the sheet metal to replace all of the parts you "might" be referring to.  There is the rear 1/4 itself (exterior panel), the outer rear wheel well (inside the 1/4), and the inner rear wheel well.  If you're referring to the front (most likely not but I've heard some folks calling fenders front 1/4s), then you can replace the inner fender well as well as the fender itself.  Please clarify the part you are referring to if I'm am still off.

Anything I can do to help, let me know.  In my original post, I was mainly thinking of an automated html form with a SQL backend to handle the database.  I think something workable could be created to alleviate some of the manual entry.

Either way, I'm happy to help with whatever, manual or not.  Send me an email anytime.

Bert, the render is at the VERY bottom of every page, scroll down and you should see something like this:

Page created in 0.476 seconds with 13 queries.

The render time will let Doug know if the page is loading slow on his servers.  If it's taking a long time to load and the render time is fast, then it's most likely internet or network related.

heh, I clicked modify to edit this message and it took a long time to load that time:

Page created in 8.153 seconds with 19 queries.

and again:

Page created in 31.213 seconds with 21 queries.

I've been experiencing the slowdowns at times as well.
