In the description he's now claiming it's a faint HG, not HC

It's clearly an HC and to his credit, he's now stated that it's an L65 and not an SS. He still needs to fix the 12 bolt reference since this car probably came with a 10 bolt. And that's not the factory Hurst shifter.

Decoding/Numbers / Re: C75 on 69 POP decoder?
« on: May 07, 2023, 03:58:47 PM »
C75 was Comfortron Heating/Air Conditioning and was only available on the full size cars. It was similar to the C60 Four Season system but was completely automatic. It had a single control lever and a dial to adjust the temperature (see below). Once the temperature was set (say, 75 degrees), and the lever set to Low, High, etc..., it automatically kept the car at that temperature.

From the picture you posted it looks like the belt has been cut. Is it frayed at the end?

Bentley, your link opens Bing, but that's all.

It says ?FORM=GPFAIL so I'm assuming it's a bad link

Per the AIM, the assembly line workers were "supposed" to use the 3839835 tape, which is very similar to black duct tape or a heavy making tape, but as you can see from the pictures in THIS THREAD, they apparently used whatever they had laying around!! Anyone that's ever worked in a warehouse knows exactly what it is! Warehouse floor safety tape!

3954393 is for the 12 bolt rearend yoke!

I wish people wouldn't call that a yoke. It's a pinion flange. The part that goes into the transmission is a yoke.

If you mean the slip yoke that goes into the transmission, it's 3950364 and was used on all 69 cars and trucks with manual and Powerglide transmissions.

Console gauges work as they should. However when I turn the ignition switch on, the gen, temp, fuel lights etc. don't light up.

If your car originally came with the center console and gauges, you shouldn't even HAVE the generator and temperature "idiot" lights. Post a picture of your dash cluster and your console gauges.

and they are date coded

Not all headrests were date stamped. Although very unusual, original headrests have been observed without date codes.

Ed, 124379N617290 isn't in the database but the M22 transmission for this same car was on TEAM CAMARO back in 2005.

And here are the pictures Ed sent me (see below)

Maintenance / Re: Fuel Pump install on 396
« on: April 15, 2023, 03:53:50 PM »
These are the correct mounting bolts (see below) and yes, you have to remove them to remove the fuel pump. And of course the fuel pump push rod is going to slide down on you. They all do unless the engine's not getting enough oil. When it does, go out and buy some "Red-N-Tacky" grease and clean up the rod then put a dab on the end that comes in contact with the camshaft. Slide it back in and it should now stay in position long enough to install the pump.

I always thought that having broach marks on the pad that run perpendicular to the cylinder bores was one of a few good indicators of a legit stamp.

Usually. Broach marks are now being faked and with most you can tell, but there are some really good ones out there that are much harder to detect so don't use "just" the broach marks to determine a factory pad.
