HERE'S the bulletin Mark's referring to.

Post a picture with the lighting at a 45 degree angle to the transmission. That might help.

Yes, just about any speaker can be reconed. Do a Google search and find someone locally.

I was gonna say that delco part number on those fronts looks a little odd (long) for a 69 Camaro...

Correct. It's an AC Delco speaker, but for a 90's car and truck.

Can you read the part number on the rear? It looks like 7937455? If that's right, it's the correct 10 ohm speaker for the rear, but I don't know if that's the correct number for a 69 Camaro. Most of my references show 1970-1976 (but you can't always go by the years shown). However, that part number was superceeded by 16177769, which is still available from Chevrolet!

If you have the correct fronts please list the correct #. I know its a pain, but pics would be even better.

For the fronts (stereo), the AIM shows P/N 7311621 (Right) and 7311611 (Left). I also show that both of those part numbers were superceeded by 7303331. (No longer available from GM)

Decoding/Numbers / Re: 67 L30 Carb
« on: May 12, 2011, 08:55:40 PM »
Sure, they were both used simultaniously, but the only real way to verify which carb came on your car is to look at the CARB CODE on the POP. In the upper right corner it'll have either R (Rochester) or C (Carter).

Your fronts aren't original, but your back's look correct. Radio & Wheel Cover World may have reconed your original, or maybe supplied another at some point.

I'm not sure they're still around, but here's a little different contact info than what's on the sticker:

Yes, both the two outer buttons and the center cap work the horn.

You have 68 and 69 door panels. The 68 panel had the lock approx 2" from the end and in 69 they moved it more forward for easier access.

Originality / Re: Static Collector Asm.
« on: May 10, 2011, 08:09:52 PM »
They were included when you purchased a radio (and sometimes even if you DIDN'T purchase a radio!!)

The original concept of these was to dissipate static. As the car's wheels rotated, static charges would build up because the hub and wheel bearings were insulated from each other by grease. Iintermittant contact between the hub and the wheel bearings would cause the static to be discharged. This in turn would produce interference (snap, crackle, pop!) on the car's radio. The static collector "springs" were placed inside the two front dust caps to create a constant electrical path between the axle and the bearing, thus eliminating the static discharges. GM finally figured out that they really weren't necessary and discontinued them in the late 60's. As a matter of fact, they're not even shown in the 69 AIM. The 68 AIM is the last time they're shown, so I believe 69's didn't come with them. John can verify that.

Here's what they look like:

Trim Tag says 01C = Jan; VIN says 617443 = Mar??

Unless he sent the wrong pictures or has the VIN incorrect in the auction, then that (and the engine dated December 13th, 1968) points to either a swapped VIN or a swapped Trim Tag and drive train.

I think Jerry restores fans, but I'm not sure about fixing bent blades. You might want to ask him.

Maintenance / Re: More wire questions
« on: May 05, 2011, 02:21:07 PM »
The 18 gauge Black wire goes from the wiper switch to the wiper and is part of the speed control. (I believe it goes to a resistor inside the wiper motor itself.)

The Brown wire is for the Tach and if your car only had "Idiot Lights", it ended at the outer bulkhead connector. If your car had gauges, then it continued through the inside bulkhead connector and finally to the tach circuit board.

The Yellow wire coming from the coil is the third wire you refered to going to the starter. It's just not labeled on the schematic.

And yes, the AIM diagram is poor (light) so you might want to get the 68 Chassis Service Manual. It also has the schematic in it and it's MUCH darker. Not only that, but it also has the other model schematics in it so you can also use those for reference.
