General Discussion / Re: 1969 Camaro passenger door mirror location
« on: December 07, 2011, 07:52:55 PM »
Dealers were instructed to install the same shape of mirror as installed on the driver side. For 1967 this would be a round mirror and for 1968 and 1969, this would be the rectangular mirror.

I have a remote drivers mirror and I have never seen a matching passenger side mirror. Does one exist?

If you mean a remote passenger side mirror, the answer is no.

Keep reading. Especially my reply #9.

Yes, the holes on the DRIVER side were prepunched, but not on the passenger door.

Passenger side mirrors were dealer installed only and the locations varied, depending on who was assigned to install it!

General Discussion / Re: Battery Disconnect Switch

Well, after a little research on Google and yahoo, I found that O'REILLY'S has them on clearance sale for $42.00 each plus shipping! That's a VERY good price (half of what I originally paid), and I even ordered two for spares.

But be quick. They only have 25 left!

I use disconnect switches on all my old cars just because of their age. I've had a car fire before and it's not pretty. Old wiring isn't trustworthy!

HERE'S the one I use. The big plus is that it allows you to use the radio, works off a remote, keeps you from having a dead battery (automatically disconnects if it detects a drain) and doubles as a theft deterent. The bad is it's expensive (but you can get it cheaper on ebay or some of the other online sites. Just do a search...), and it's NOT hidden.

you can read more about the Battery Brain line HERE.

Where is the correct position to mount the windshield washer jar on a non RS 68 396 Camaro, the radiator support or driver side fender well ?

Radiator Support. Check out the AIM, UPC 1, Sheet A4 for more information.

That's correct. You have a 2.73 open 10 bolt assembled on December 27th, 1966 at the Detroit Gear and Axle plant. Not original to your car.

Frank, if Kurt hasn't already asked, he'll probably be contacting you shortly about your car for the database!

Firefox works just fine, but not IE 8. Not sure about IE 7, 9 or the beta 10 (or Safari either).

So Ed if the POP shows the rear coded for a JL8 rear, does that then confirm rear discs? So no separate coding except for the JL8 rear? Correct?

Correct.

Ed that position is filled by the rear end code and date.

That's correct. That's the only place on the POP that will tell you if the car originally came with 4 wheel disk brakes.

Yes, it would start at row B, column 15, and continue through column 21.

HERE'S more info on POP decoding, and HERE'S the list of axle codes. (NOTE: If the table is blank on your screen under the "1967-1969 Camaro POP Option Fields" heading, just click, hold and drag your mouse in the table and it'll all show up. It's a bug in IE.
