this is the real thing.my father and myself purchased this Z28 in i believe june 1968.we bought it from tom carney chevy/olds inc. in bluffton indiana (believe no longer in business).the sticker is in very good shape.there is one small tear in the center where it was folded on the left and a small hole on the righ side.both are visable in the pictures.  i contacted the person i sold it to and he didnt recall to whom he sold it to and without the vin number i couldnt do a title search...the car was equipted as the sticker shows but it did have a wooden look plastic 3 spoke steering wheel, origional equiptment, installed at the dealer.it doesent show up on the sticker...also included are some area quotes for compairing the prices. carney was the only dealer that had this Z28 on hand.the others dealers would have to ordered it from the the factory...please ask if any questions and ill try to answer proper. check out my feedback and be confident. buy now or make me an offer. sold to lower 48 only though alaska and hawaii ok but prob wont rec in 3 days priority mail.  sold as-is with no returns accepted.  if you have this car you NEED this sticker. if you have a similar you still NEED this sticker.ill pack in in a flat rate envelope with enough cardboard that it wont be bent...believe me,id rather still have the car than this sticker...paypal only

Decoding/Numbers / New creep on the block!
« on: May 17, 2013, 01:50:33 PM »
Looks like there's a new player in the FAKE TRIM TAG/FAKE VIN TAG game. (Thanks to Warren Leunig for pointing them out)

deniser3592 from Uxbridge, Ontario Canada

Check out the feedback and you'll see the blank VIN tags. Also note the name "Bill" in THIS AUCTION. I wonder if it's our old friend Bill Clements. Last I heard he had moved to Canada, so it's very possible.

In this example, there are two:

1967 Trim Tag

01E E
ST 67 12437 NOR180567 BODY
TR 760-Z K-K PAINT
2HLG 3L

1969 Trim Tag

ST 69 12437 NOR193681 BDY
TR 719 52 52 PNT
12B X33 D80

Thank goodness they're HORRIBLE and a 5 year old could tell the difference!!

M20 out of a 1969 Camaro. Case: 3925660 Tailshaft: 3857584 Sidecover: 6952648.
No broken ears or other damage to the case, I was told it was out of a running car.
If you are serious on it, I can take it to my trans rebuilder and see what he thinks about it internally.
I have a couple shifters for an additional fee. A Mr Gasket for $50, or a Hurst competion plus for an additional $250. I have a 430 bellhousing for $80 as well.

68 Camaro Owners Manual + Envelope + Waranty & Owner Protection Plan with Metal ID Plate  + Window Sticker + Milage Sticker + Inspection Schedule + Air Pollution Brochure. Most  items are in VG to Excellent Condition. Was saved from vehicle I owned and kept inside out of sun or moisture.   Will make a nice presentation for your Camaro.  Be sure to ask about the condition of individual items before bidding. Thanks.

They were purchased with a buy it now of $50.00 by another ebay seller wbjpmj out of Canfield, OH, but in HIS ad, the car has magically turned into an SS!!

The item you see is the one being sent to you should you be the winning bidder. There are no RE-PRINTS in this collection. RE-PRINTS are found all over the internet, however factory original pieces are of the hardest to acquire especially in the condition found here.

Factory Original Owners Protection Plan Booklet with Metal Plate for a 1968 Camaro Sport Coupe WITH THE MATCHING ORIGINAL WINDOW STICKER AND MATCHING VIN. This particular piece was from a Butternut Yellow with a Black Vinyl Top VIN ID: 124378N449356 with the Matching OPP Manual and Plate. The book is in exceptional condition,  Original Part number is 3936265 FIRST Edition and also has the Original Dealer Pre-Delivery Sheet and the owners name was never filled in. As seen in the photo literature is in excellent condition. Rating this piece on a scale of 1-10 considering it's age I would give it a 9.5. Please review the photo closely prior to bid or purchase. Being an original piece which is very hard to acquire it is an excellent original piece.  Looking for other Vette Manuals, Import Manuals, Domestic Manuals, Service Manuals, Parts Manuals, or other unique show car literature keep checking my auctions as they will be here.

All items will be sent by Economy First Class Mail with delivery confirmation for your protection as well as mine. Shipping will be FREE across the United States and $8.00 to Canada. Others please e-mail prior to purchase and verify that I ship to your area.

Not only that, but he didn't include the rest of the docs and paperwork in his auction, so you're getting less for more $$$! Now, I'm not saying the new seller is trying to rip anyone off (you can make that decision on your own), but I've contacted him about his "mistake", and what do you wnat to bet the auction WON'T be changed?

The lesson? Do the detective work BEFORE you buy. (Thanks for the heads up Warren!!)

General Discussion / San Marino Concours - June 9, 2013
« on: January 09, 2013, 09:01:17 PM »
Gents, I received an email from Michael Brennan, the chair of the muscle car selection committee for the 2013 SAN MARINO MOTOR CLASSIC.

He's asking for original (or restored) ZL-1 and/or other COPO owners that might be interested in participating.

If you have a ZL-1 or a COPO, and would like to enter your car, please contact Michael at adventureland4me@hotmail.com

If you don't have a ZL-1 or a COPO, but know someone that does, please pass this info to them.

Thanks

Research Topics & Reports / 67-68 Los Angeles firewall piercings
« on: October 22, 2012, 03:51:31 PM »
Gents, Troy is working on a firewall report and needs some assistance.

He's found that Norwood cars follow the AIM exactly for the firewall piercings, but he's found that LA didn't always go by the book! Specifically, the manual transmission backup light wiring hole and the oil line hole for the U17 gauge option.

Therefore, anyone with an ORIGINAL UNRESTORED Los Angeles built 67 or 68 Camaro with a manual transmission (3 or 4 speed), please post a picture of your firewall. Specifically the general area where the backup light wiring hole is, but a large enough picture so he can get a reference as to other holes and components.

Also, anyone with a Los Angeles built 67 or 68 Camaro with the U17 gauge package (manual or automatic transmission), please post pictures of your firewall. Again, specifically the general area where the oil line goes through the firewall, but a large enough picture so he can get a reference as to other holes and components.

In addition, please post the year, model (Coupe or Convertible), and build date of your car, along with the Fisher Body scheduling code, so he knows when any changes that may show up took place.

Any questions, or if your picture is too large to post on site, feel free to email them directly to Troy or myself. My email address is in my profile.

Thanks

Mild Modifications / Reproduction AM/FM quality?
« on: April 23, 2012, 04:04:16 PM »
Anyone know anything about THIS RADIO? It's very pricy (all the repop houses sell it for about the same price), but my radio just died and it would cost close to that to get it fixed. And even then it would still be 50 year old technology. This one "appears" correct, but I haven't seen it up close so there may be some minor differences.

Basically I'd like to know if it really DOES look "correct", how does it sound and how's the overall manufacture quality. It's actually made in the US by ANTIQUE AUTOMOBILE RADIO, so hopefully, that's a plus!

Thanks in advance...

John Pirkle obituary

I didn't know John personally, but spoke with him on a few occasions over the last several years. He was a well respected member of the Corvette community as well as just about all other GM communities. His attention to detail was unparalleled and he will be terribly missed.

The picture below is John Hinckley and John Pirkle at the last NCRS National convention in July.

Rest in peace Colonel.

1968 - Orphans / 18L324909 LF7 on Riverside Craigslist
« on: September 30, 2011, 10:44:15 PM »
http://inlandempire.craigslist.org/pts/2614602414.html

VIN: 18L324909
Suffix: V1229ME

Location: Riverside, CA

This is a complete 327 large journal short block out of a 1968 camaro. It is casting number 3914678 which indicates 302, 327, or 350 large journal 2 bolt mains. Only produced in 1968 this is a very rare casting number from what im told and is correct for corvettes, camaro z-28 etc. only the crank would be differant to acheive the differant displacements. The date code shows it was cast on Dec 20 1967. It has a 327 crank casting# 3911001 and the desirable 7178 main caps. It is stock bore, turns freely and apparently has never been rebuilt. Looks to be in great shape except light rust in one cylinder. would definitely clean up with a bore job. Have an oil pan to go with to ease transport as well. Located in riverside but i could make delivery arrangements depending on distance in southern california. These are selling on ebay for between $650 and $2800, so if i dont sell it here im going to auction it. I would rather not deal with that though and willing to part with it for $400 or best offer 951-836-0620 ask for Bryan.
