I've tried twice to upload a picture for my profile and nothing shows up. Anyone know why?

Thanks -

We aren't allowing that :)  Host it elsewhere and select that option.

Site Comments/Discussion / Re: quotes button
« on: May 02, 2006, 07:19:24 PM »
Hey great site guys n gals.
I'm new here and will be spending as much time as I can asking questions and helping others as much as I can.

One site issue, the behaviour of the 'quote' button is somewhat annoying. When highlighting a bit of text in my reply box that I want to appear as a quote, when I click the quote button it puts both opening and closing quotes at the end of the highlighted text.
Any way to change that so the opening quote appears at the start of the highlighted text?
Not a huge issue, just what I'm used to.   :)

The function of the quote button is to quote the entire message that you are clicking "quote" within.  It is functioning as it is supposed to.

Site Comments/Discussion / Re: What determines status on the Forum?

Just curious, what determines one's status on the Forum - e.g. Newbie, Jr. Member or Veteran?

Thanks -

Veteran - someone that had a membership on the old forum.

The others are based on how many posts you have.

The "Finally" must be your discovery, as CRG has been here for quite a long time.

Is there a setting I can change?

Thanks.

No, that sounds more like a local issue.  What OS & browser version?

General Discussion / Re: new forum
« on: November 19, 2005, 02:19:32 AM »
This is just my opinion, but I find that even though the new forum is just as informative...it is more complex and not as easy and fun to view. Not that I am incapable of maneuvering through it...it is just that is seems like work now and not as enjoyable. Now I have to select each topic individually and go in and out of windows and move around the site alot just to get the same information. I find that most of us 67-69 Camaro guys like things simple. (Not speaking for all of us Camaro owners, just something I have observed in my small world.) I used to check in every day to see what is going on and now I find myself coming here maybe once a week. Viewing and responding to subjects has become more of a task then simplistic method of the old setup. I liked seeing everything at once and clicking and viewing each subject and following the threads I thought interesting. It's not that easy anymore. And since I am not checking in as often, I can only assume others are not as well which is why there is now less topics and responses to view and less people coming in...kind of like a self fulfilling prophecy. Maybe it is just me and I am resisting change. I really hate to see anything that is successful get changed...after all...if it ain't broke, don't fix it (unless its an old Camaro and you're bored). Anyway...I agree that there seems to be less activity, which is sad...hopefully things will pick up and this is just a growing pain of the new forum.

Ahhh, but the old forum WAS broken.  Thus the need for a fix.  While it was broken, it was a good time to implement a more feature-rich forum that is easier to manage, easier for members to manage their own accounts, easier to display images, easier to search, etc.

You will learn the new features, you'll realize that the old forum was highly limited in what it offered, and you'll come to love the new way.

Just looking for as much info as I can get, but thanks anyway.

I believe he's just directing you to your post on camaros.net where you asked the same thing with the same image and received a correct and proper answer.

I guess it would e the forum tree.
Currently reads:

  Camaro Research Group Forum
    Site Comments / Discussion
      Site Comments/Discussion
        Usability request

You have the "Jump to:" pulldown at the bottom right to perform most of this function.

That link didn't turn out clickable like I expected. What did I do wrong?

You didn't put the link between the bracketed HTML code,,,normally that would be invisible but now you can see it

That's correct.  I fixed the post to correct the code and make it a clickable link.

General Discussion / Re: Small block dipstick details
« on: November 04, 2005, 03:01:06 AM »
Hello all. Help me out here. My friend just got the small block back from the engine builder last week. Today we started going over everything we need to pull together before installing. The upper dipstick tube and stick are off the car as is the lower tube. I've never had a block (other than a Pontiac) where the lower tube had been removed.

Is the correct proceedure to insert the lower tube through the block (outside to inside, taping it down into the hole until it seats) or is there a better way? The tube fits nicely until the flare reaches the machined surface of the block, and then it appears to be a very tight fit.

Any insight appreciated.

Joe

That's all it takes.

You might send a PM to him (user ID is william) as a good way to communicate this as well.

First welcome back, and congratulations on the new site. Overall very easy to use and navigate.
I have two minor requests:
Would it be possible to add the links to the bottom of the discussion threads like they are now at the top? If not, maybe a link button back to the topic level by the other link buttons that appear at the top and bottom of each thread. This would simplify going back to read the next topic.
Also could the size of the "news" banner be fixed? Currently when the news item cycles, the section resizes, and the links have a tendency to move up or down on the screen with each change.

Thanks again for a great site, and knowledge that cant be found in books.

Tom

Which links are you requesting at the bottom?  The menu bar?  The forum tree?

Use a link to it, I don't have the server set to allow you to upload one here at this time.
