I politely disagree. AIM was followed, reviewed the vid and made a callto another knowledgeable person and alltl supports my seal installation is correct. So I'll leave it as is.
Let's get back to the question; what do you all think about using the heat spacers.

I believe it is on correctly as it can only go on one way to fasten to the flange.
It is not compressed as much because the spacer ring to flange is not installed because of the added 1/2" carb spacer.

There is a 1/2" Phenolic Carb Spacer on now and can't use metal ring spacer for the cowl induction air cleaner.
I did make a new choke linkage so that works and looks original.
I'd like to have the original look under to hood, but also worry about boiling the gas on hot days in traffic as I drive it a lot.
What would you all do, leave it as is or remove the Phenolic Carb Spacer.
Thanks in advance

General Discussion / head stampings?
« on: June 05, 2021, 04:22:15 PM »
looking at some 186 heads but see stamps on fronts and backs.
some numbers with letters SS and one seems to be SAXER.
any ideas on these dec 68 casts
besides being 2.02s,  would they be appropriate markings for a z28
thanks again

General Discussion / fuel guage readings in console
« on: May 21, 2021, 05:02:26 PM »
when tank is full, guage reads considerably beyond full, believe it has maxed out.

when guage reads 1/4 and I refill it takes about 10 gallons

when guage reads nearly empty, it still takes 8-9 gallons

I am hesitant to run the guage down below empty to see how far it goes until there is about 3 gallons remaining.

It seems as though the guage could exceed  the empty as it does on the full.

If I remember correctly, my other one would go past full about 3/8", where this one the needle is nearly out of sight

Am I just splitting hairs here.

any ideas, or just live with it.
Thanks in advance
Walt

General Discussion / Re: Carburation Ideas FIXED!
« on: May 14, 2021, 12:49:27 PM »
Amazing what 100s of an inch can do
found an old 2007 post from Jerry and tried his configuration
72s in the primaries and 76s in the secondaries both with 6.5pvs
no more stutter no more stumble.. A whole new beast to say the least.
tuned vacume on carb as recommended and added 1/4 turn
I run the timing at 10*/ 38 with 93 Sunoco......... temp is about 190*
tried 77s in the secondaries and above 5000 ran extremely strong, but settled on the 76s for my driving.

Thanks to Jerry's old post and everyone's help on this. Zoom Zoom!

grabbed a delphi MF0001 AMF0001.
that's all that was available locally, it works
is there something better that will have a similar appearance and possibly better performances.
Thanks
