The headers that the salesman at Keown Chevrolet showed me in the trunk of the 1969 Z28 were black.

I found a photo that someone posted of headers in the trunk of a 1968 Z28 Camaro:

I remember riding my bike to my grandparent's house to cut the lawn and took a shortcut by going up the driveway of Owen Keown Chevrolet, which was on the corner of Lincoln and Washington Blvd.  A salesman stopped me and said he would sell me a new 1969 Z28 Camaro for $2700 and said he would throw in a set of headers that were in the trunk for free!  Even back then, insurance companies were making it difficult for young drivers to purchase a muscle car, although it would be years before I could even afford an economy car!

Mild Modifications / Re: Disc brakes

I believe that the proportioning valve used in the kit I referenced earlier does not require a metering valve as described in the CRG reference material posted below:

Combination Valve
Although not used on any first-generation Camaro, all of the separate distribution/valving functions described above (distribution block and warning switch, metering/hold-off, and rear proportioning) were integrated in later second-generation disc/drum cars into what became known as the "combination valve". This valve, usually machined from brass, combined all those functions in one single device, which simplified packaging and plumbing. Multiple part numbers were required to accommodate calibrations for differing vehicle weights and configurations.

Camaro Central sells a proportioning valve for a 1967 Camaro that eliminates the distribution block:

I have no experience with this vendor, but know that you have to be careful whenever replacing a proportioning valve.  Good luck! - Mark

A Camaro that originally had drum brakes does not have a proportioning valve:

You need to ask your mechanic if the correct proportioning valve was installed on your Camaro.  You should also not attempt hard braking when you have installed new rotors and pads until they have been used for awhile.

General Discussion / Re: repoe 14 x 7 steels

If these are the 14 x 7 inch steel wheels, I would call Classic Industries as they do not indicate that they will not fit on a 1969 Camaro with disc brakes:

From your photos, it appears that you have the factory single piston calibers.

I noticed Vince Piggins name on the Central Office document for the 8 quart aluminum oil pan.

Why doesn't someone contact AJ Foyt and ask him about what actually went on with the 1967 Camaro Pace Car?  If I see Parnelli Jones again, I'll have to ask him if he had won the 1967 Indy 500 with the turbine car, would he have taken the Camaro!

Unless your car has a Detroit Locker, you shouldn't experience any binding with a Posi.

Ed Meyer had 2-piece rotors rotors made for the 1969 BOSS 429 as they unique for the car as the spindles were changed in 1970.  Ed also had 2-piece rotors made for the 1969 BOSS 302 and Shelby Mustangs, with 2-piece rotors also available that could be used on 1970 Mustangs.  These rotors were quite reason in price and were available from National Parts Depot and other parts outlets, but sold out some years ago:

I thought that the VIN tag on a 1959 Corvette was fastened with screws.

According to Kurt S, your 1968 Camaro with a 327 engine would have had an ignition coil with part number 1115293:

I would recommend buying a new one-piece rotor as someone can't tell if your car has a two-piece rotor unless they put their fingers inside the slots in the wheel rim (just performed the check).  Although I've bought rebuilt master cylinders and power brake boosters, I wouldn't buy used rotors unless I could inspect them in person to measure the rotor thickness and condition of the bearing races.
