Restoration / Re: corvette bronze paint code update

not really sure how to post question on here. I'm new to this site. That library......site, I found, not to be much help, this day and age.

Yes, I live in lebanon, Jeff lives two streets over from me. I've been doing all the work myself. I do collision repair also. It was put on hold for a year, but getting back on it. The list you showed me, I tried almost every shop to cross reference all of those paint codes. i finally found a paint store to mix me some, to compare to my windsheild post. I'm hoping to have it painted within about two months.

I try to start a new thread with my build status.

Restoration / corvette bronze paint code update
« on: December 13, 2021, 09:37:10 PM »
Anyone found an updated paint code for "OO", corvette bronze paint code?   I found the PPG code, but it's not updated. 3 different automotive paint stores can't come up with it anything. Any help finding what is a match, with a different code?

absolutely!   Gain much more information by observing/studying unrestored unmolested cars.   One can get more 'misinformation' than enlightenment studying restored cars...

I'm sure, they are probably miles from middle TN.

This may be a shot in the dark. there is a couple of guys (I think) around the south Nashville, TN area. 1 owns a 68 corvette bronze coupe. I can't remember there names. we see
them at swapmeets, and they know we have a numbers matching bb corvette bronze convertible. and I'm in Lebanon, tn,  I'm not sure if they are members of this group. just trying to get in touch with them. my number is 615-557-4864, david. (if this isn't allowed, delete the phone number), Thanks.

Other than the 68, I'm building now. I still have the 67 Cutlass my dad use to drive as his daily, in the late 80's and into the 90's. I drove it a few times to high school. I've help change more motors n that car than I can think of, some with him, some without.
we restored a 68 rs/ss  BB 4 speed clone around that time. first car me and my dad restored together. It was in the Snap-on calendar of 99. sold it. in 2000, told the guy if he ever decided t sell it, call him. Guess what. The guy did! after it was damaged in a Tornado, but wasn't really damaged that bad. My dad still has that one also!

Last post had me laughing hard!!!!

I have a 19yr old daughter, and I taught her how to drive a manual trans for her first car. She drives the hell out it, (Scion TC) (just like her father), 2 clutch jobs, and 1 engine. she's been modifying it herself. and believe it or not, she's not afraid of working out it herself, (exhaust, header, shifter, wheels and tires, front and rear bumpers), but sometimes I have to assist.

I get it that the younger generation isn't into the muscle cars. They can barely buy parts for these rice burners.

but I'm very proud of her, and I'm 3yrs away from 50.

These do have the flat spot. built a 68 years ago, and didn't notice it when I was restoring, (factory quarters), wiped right over it. when it was done and at a car show. I realized what I had done. Our own car. So no bigge back then.

Repo, but have you ever seen a set of NOS quarters for a convertible, and could you imagine the price for them?. I have boxes full of GM NOS parts. from the 90's. mostly the chrome and trim. Even have a very rare GM big block fan shroud. someone put GM quarters in it from a coupe, they seemed it across the top, and I didn't like it, because you could see the seam on the inside. I do collision repair, and restored many cars, so this isn't my first rodeo. with all the original stuff, I just want it to look as near as original as possible. Just want to get some honest opinions from this group. Thanks.

That's the way I got the car.  but I have almost everything that came from the factory, L35, M40, 12 bolt rear-end, even original booster/master cylinder, and disc brakes. the car had to have floors and quarters replaced. I've done all that, and first coat of primer on the body. next I want to start on the engine and trans, and start restoring everything else, ie: painting everything. then send the car out to be painted. Oh and it's a paint code, 02 convertible.

Back at it again. I may have asked this question before. what is the best book/guide, to tell all the colors/shades of everything, ie:, firewall, subframe, innerfenders, rad support, bolts, and other small brackets, etc.?
