Originality / Fold Down Rear Seat Latch for 69 Camaro
« on: January 17, 2022, 02:37:23 AM »
Has anyone seen a hinge and latch assembly like this for a fold down rear seat for a 69 Camaro?
I always thought the seat had the large stud and the latch was attached to the upper rear bulkhead

Originality / 3932386 Cast on I 20 8 and Stamped V0103DZ

Is a January 3, 1969 engine assembly date of a 302 using a 3932386 block with a cast date of September 20, 1968 too many weeks between casting and assembly?

Originality / CE?1303xx with casting date K 27 1
« on: January 11, 2022, 01:29:41 AM »
What could or should the letter or number be after CE?
With a November 1971 casting date my expectation was that it should be a 1 or a 2

Originality / CE882089 with a casting date of D 1 8, is it a 327 or 302

Is CE882089 with a casting date of D 1 8 a 327 or A 302?
I was surprised by sequence number 82089 for a Flint V8 as I thought the Flint sequence numbers for CE V8's was 20,000 to 49,999 and Tonawanda V8's was 50,000 to 79,999 and Flint L-6's was 80,001 to 89,999

General Discussion / Addressograph or Graphotype at Norwood
« on: December 27, 2021, 01:44:56 AM »
Was it an Addressograph or Graphotype that was used for Trim Tag, VIN tags and Protect O Plates at Norwood?
Was it an employee sitting at a key pad and typing each character of each line or was it more automated by the mid Sixties?

1969 - Orphans / Re: DZ block with partial vin
« on: December 19, 2021, 01:57:20 AM »
With the VIN 124379N683008, would this DZ block have originally been installed in a Z/28 built in September 1969?
On average, about how many weeks prior to the build date of the car could the engine block have been cast and the engine assembled?
Would a mid April cast date and an early June engine assembly date be reasonable?

General Discussion / 69 Camaro Rally Sport Z/28 Crossram JL8

Has anyone seen in person the 69 Camaro Rally Sport Z/28 Crossram JL8 that just sold at auction?
I expected a Z/28 with these options to sell for much more than $88K
I thought a JL8 rear end assembly must be $20K at least

124379N613490 is for sale online and advertised as a Super Sport although the original engine is no longer in the car.
Aside from the rivets that are obviously wrong and the lack of black paint, does the Cowl Tag look to be original?

General Discussion / 68 Camaro Suffers a Fire
« on: November 04, 2021, 08:25:29 PM »
I was thinking about adding aftermarket air conditioning to a 68 Camaro to become a daily driver until I saw this picture.
Does it look like this fire started under the dash and perhaps with the under dash aftermarket air conditioning?

Is it reasonable to be very curious of the Motor Vehicle Title history as well?

When did Van Nuys move the partial VIN to the rough casting above the oil filter?
