Wow, thank you for that! Definitely do not have one of those in the garage.

You are welcome! Actually, a good friend has a '63 Ferrari 250 with a 275 front clip.

My worthless two cents...
One would think acquiring headers for a small block Chevy is a fairly simple, and easy to do job. I guess with so many brands out there the choice is unlimited...or it used to be(?).

Anyone seen this AMC V8 Traco 2x4 Intake Manifold before ?
Guess technically it would not be considered a crossram.

After some reflection, I would call this intake similar to a Bud Moore's 'Mini Plenum' This one could possibly work better(?). It's design is a small plenum, very short runner design. Kinda like a compact under the hood version of a tunnel ram. Would be interesting to see a dyno pull on this one...!

Also, as a consideration, switch the top cover for one fitted for an Autolite Inline carb...hmmm. That would be a neat conversation piece!

That's a new one to me. Meant to be used with which heads?

+2. Neat piece. And no, its not a Cross-Ram.

General Discussion / Re: 110 octane fuel
« on: May 05, 2023, 03:47:57 PM »
Recently acquired a '69 Z28 with the original engine. Considering running VP 110 octane or also have access to 100 octane aviation at my local airport. Any thoughts on this appreciated as well as changes I need to make to timing? I believe the car has been running on 93 pump Sunoco.

Unless your compression is very high, aka 12 to 1, pump gas is fine for your car. 'Most' gas stations (within reason) sell 100 octane right next to the 93 (or 91) here in the West. IF you need to adjust your timing, just drop it a couple of degrees and your off and running. Happy motoring as they say!

General Discussion / Re: HP - 396cu = 325,350,375 what changes?

^^ TBD^^ I am testing a L78 transplant for my L35 after 30 years.

I can tell you my first impressions on the STREET is the 396/375 is Pulling like gangbusters. & I am still in the first few miles.

Maybe correct. However, it will take time (RPM) for those big ports to work. The oval port car will be ahead of you off the line and through most of the race. Torque moves the car. Think Buick/Olds/Pontiac 455 VS 426 Hemi/Boss 429s. Believe me, I know all about big port engines...

Mild Modifications / Re: 17 inch Rally wheels
« on: April 29, 2023, 04:55:46 PM »
When you find out, it would be worth posting about. I'm not a fan of big wheels and rubberband tires, but I appreciate that someone would try to capture the factory wheel look instead of the more common custom mod wheels.

Can't agree more. Also not a fan of the no sidewalls on a vintage car. I have a set of 17" wheels on my brand X car, with some meat on the sidewalls. Looks good. That is what made me post over here for some viewpoints on the F body (or maybe on an A body) too.

FWIW, and as mentioned, the 'Oval Port' heads will be the better street engine bar none. Think LS5 VS LS6 454's.

Team Camaro question.  I'd venture to guess you won't get an answer on here about 17" rims.  But maybe.

Thanks. I'd figure it was a chance.

Mild Modifications / 17 inch Rally wheels
« on: April 20, 2023, 07:40:37 PM »
Guys,
Anyone running the new alum 17 inch Rally wheels? I know there are the 7", 8" and 9" wide versions. My concerns: any fitment issues?

General Discussion / Re: Argent Silver/ Krylon dull Aluminum
« on: April 12, 2023, 03:27:03 PM »
Guys,
I have no problem finding argent silver. My local Home Depot, Lowe's and Wal-Marts have plenty...in different brands, and shades of silver. Its the same situation with my Ford friends trying to find the closest 'Ford blue' engine paint. Also, a tip on some other hard to find color matches: use either Krylon (preferred) or Rustolum 'Bronze Metallic' for what is used for black metallic, with a touch of gold in it. Perfect match...from a rattle can.

Brightened it up a bit.

Thanks, Jon.
Also this photo, and the other one appears to be a still from old Super 8 film footage. IF that is the case, wonder where/who has it?

I wonder why they would have installed a vinyl top? I know Penske's issues, but you'd think given Smokey's reputation he would already have lightened the car as much as possible.

It's my understanding it was installed to hide some roof mods, and to cover up the ultra thin metal from acid dipping.
