Originality / 1969 Dealer Order Form
« on: October 03, 2019, 02:04:01 AM »
Does anyone have a Dealer Order Form for the '69 Camaro?  I found the front side of a '67 Camaro order form in the CRG Steering Wheel Report  and maybe a piece of a '69 one n the CRG LM1 Report

The Chevelle Stuff web site has really nice examples the different paperwork including the front and back of the order form (about halfway down on the page)  It would be really cool to have this all in one place for the Camaro. Maybe an idea for a new CRG research topic :)

There is a photo of this car in Lamm's book 'The Great Camaro', pg37.  The caption states the tire sidewalls are reflective.  Interesting design idea that never saw the light of day?

Regarding the other new related design threads there is a lot of info in this book.  I really like the quarter-scale transparent body model !

That is Detroit, they are in Canada!
The lower door jamb is painted a darker color, unique seats ...

General Discussion / First gen Z/28 registry
« on: March 12, 2019, 01:54:50 PM »
Does the CRG consider its 'research database' a registry for all first gen Camaro models?   I'm surprised there isn't one for the first gen Z/28.

My understanding is Jerry Macneish maintains The Official 1967 Camaro Z/28 Registry. However is doesn't appear to be publicly accessible.  So basically this is just personal or business owned collection of data, likely a dang good one.   http://www.z28camaro.com/registry.html

Another is this 1968 Z/28 National Registry http://1968z28.com/ owned by Larry Eakin  The web site Mission states 'As the registry grows, we expect the information to help muscle car enthusiasts to more fully appreciate the 1968 Z/28 as one of the purist production based high performance cars of the 20th century.'   Well, the information is not shared so how is that helpful?

I've not located anything specific for the 1969 Z's.  So what's the deal?  There are other registries like sYc for the Yenko and ZL1.  This one can be viewed without even logging into the forum.  The 'vettes and Chevelle's are also good examples.   All even publish the full VIN.

My '69 was built the day after, Friday 2/28.  I wished her happy 50th as well :)

What a great list of cars to chose from. Man, several 4:56 geared cars. So cool

You could have bought all six Z/28's then for just under $25K ...  tax, title, and tags out the door   8)

I've seen several 1969 dealer ads announcing the availability of 427 Camaros.   Guess the secret got out at some point.

Except for the COPOS, the *factory* did NOT install 427's in Camaros.   Dealerships DID swap engines and install 'non-factory' engines for high performance customers.. such as Baldwin Motion which was well known and displayed in many high perf magazines of the day!

I thought numerous dealerships ordered the COPO 9561 directly.  My assumption was they were advertising these.  Both ads are from ~April 69 and Lowe has a car on the sYc registry.

It is not known how availability of COPOs 9560, 9561 & 9737 was communicated throughout the dealer network. Legend has it they were supposed to be exclusive to their respective dealerships, Gibb Chevrolet and Yenko Chevrolet. But Berger Chevrolet learned of them early on and initially ordered one of each. Their ZL1 [body # 211785] was actually ordered prior to Gibbs' 50 car order.

What is option ZP2; Didn't see it in the spreadsheet?

Its on pg 7 in the Export & Misc. section, but does not have the count.

Very likely Paul's number of 6357 is good :)

The dealer could over-ride any paint/interior combo on the chart by noting it in the special instructions section. But not vinyl roof combos. Brown is noted: Gold and Brown exterior colors only.

I recently saw a '69 GM Canada doc with an RPO code "ZP2  Trim & Colour Override".   It was for Lemans blue with a dark blue interior (71/715), like mine.

So I expect any overrides like these would have been on the shipping report.  Would it have also been included on the window sticker ?

Dang. Smokie's old book is still selling for big bucks.  Check out the first reviewer quote on Amazon.   What are the odds?

"It's the best book I have ever read bar none! I couldn't put it down...nobody could." -- John DeLorean

Thanks for the book recommendation!  I know little about DeLorean other than flux capacitors :)
