« on: June 04, 2019, 10:28:53 AM »I just noticed on the pre-race NBCSN coverage that there are 4 1969 Camaro Indy Pace Cars parked on the exit of pit lane near turn two.
Funny story. One of those on track cars had just that weekend been purchased. The new owner (who I met after the race) was preparing for the parade lap in his "new" car. The vintage race car that Mario Andretti was set to drive in that ceremony developed a fluid leak, so the officials asked the new owner if Mario could ride in the back of his pace car! Then hammering it between turn 1 and 2 Mario was yelling at the driver to slow down!
What a cool way to break in your new car.

My Z/28 vin is 431616 so with about the same build date, there are a number of things I’ll be asking you about and might like to see.

Hmm. I thought this car was an RS I guess. Just double checked and realized its not. My question was as if it was an RS. Thanks for the reply Danny.

« on: March 25, 2019, 12:50:35 PM »Isnt there a spacer suppose to go on the lower alternator mount bolt? See the space there? I don't have a manual to check it but maybe someone can chime in here about it

If you mean here, that black sleeve is the spacer. The alternator is spaced as far forward as is can go, but needs to go another 1/4" for belt alignment.

« on: March 25, 2019, 11:02:06 AM »Here is the lower mount I’m using. Everything looks like it needs to move forward 1/4” to line up with the water pump and crank pulleys. There is enough meat in the bracket to slot the holes and make it up.

Here is the lower mount I’m using. Everything looks like it needs to move forward 1/4” to line up with the water pump and crank pulleys. There is enough meat in the bracket to slot the holes and make it up.

Thanks guys. John that is a great old photo.
I was able to trace the proper arch from enlarged photos of Chick’s car, Dave B’s blue one and some original bracket sets and use my press to re-arch mine. Fits a lot better now and clears the blades. Alt is a mock up unit.
