Decoding/Numbers / Re: Build Sheet 67 RS/SS
« on: March 21, 2018, 02:51:19 PM »
Hello CJ
I also just bought a 67 rs/ss L48 car that was built has a 01D build date.  I haven't gotten the car back yet but plan on it in the coming week or so.  My car is also highly original and has been off the road for a long time.  Once I get it back and properly sorted it would be nice to have someone with the same car to aide in the restoration.  My car is a 1 owner with lost of documentation all though I have not looked for a build sheet I do have the protecto plate and manuals.  Is your car an auto or 4spd?  Congrats on the purchase!!!!

thanks guys....   I did spend a couple of hours reading on the site last night and finally found this info also.  There is a wealth of knowledge here for sure.  I never realized there were so many L48 cars built.  Are there any numbers known for how many came with the RS option also?

I have a lead on another interesting car I might try to acquire and wanted to be sure before I go and check it out.  The car has never been restored but the original engine is not in the car, what appears to be the original engine is included but in pieces.  My question is... Would an "MS" 350 have a small journal crank as other 67 and back are or would it be a large journal?  If it is a large journal would it be a 4 bolt main or would that not have happened until the 1969 model year?  If it is small journal obviously ( I think ) it would be a 2 bolt main block. I'm pretty sure the car is legit but I would like to have any info I can to cross check data.   I don't think it matters but the car has a 01D build date from Norwood

bcmiller......could you elaborate a little on what you are speaking of 5/67-11/67?  I'm assuming it has to do with the trans am series but not sure

Decoding/Numbers / What is the earliest known 68 Z28?

Hello All
I aware early 68 Z's are pretty scarce but I have never seen any numbers or registry of sort showing the earliest VIN for a 68.  Does something like exist?  I've had a 4th week of December car since the early 80's that has been sitting since 1976.   I would call it a wounded survivor but I do have the original block and most all of the engine along with the rear end.  It does have the original Fathom Blue paint, 719 interior with a fold down rear seat.  My goal for this year is to finally begin putting it back together.
