General Discussion / AACA event at Gettysburg
« on: March 10, 2018, 01:30:39 PM »
I am considering entering this year and trying for junior champ. If I can do so at Gettysburg, I will go for senior champ at Hershey in the Fall.  I have a couple of questions for those in the know.  Will I lose points for not having a certain accessories like a bumper jack or stickers that would have come on the car from the factory, like the GM door reflector?  Any tips? Will I receive a list of items I need to work on?  I plan to drive my car so I would like to get the shows out of the way. Thanks.

Thanks Dave. I was told that it is common for a leak to occur in the heater and you won't know until it's too late. I want to connect the hoses so they look correct but not functional.

Any recommendations on the best way to plug hose to heater to prevent coolant from going to the heater box?  Thanks.

My brake light stays on, any thoughts why it stays on and what I should do to fix it?

Are you going to paint the "Delco energizer" in yellow?  What paint did you use?  Looks to me like the R59 repro is the same as the Y77 but for the color.

That's awesome Danzo. Yep, new garage, but I don't plan to put anything around the car. I told my wife I am building a garage, she said we don't need a garage...that's when I told her I bought the car. Needless to say I am now buying carpet and painting the house.

Is there a reproduction Y77 battery on the market?  I assume there is not since I searched Chris site and the web and could only find "R" repro batteries. Thanks. FYI. I took my Z out for her maiden voyage yesterday. Wow, great sound and lots of fun!  It feels good bringing a car back from the dead.

We took it to 6000 rpm and it pulled around 320 hp. It was bored .020 and new pistons and cam were installed. We kept it as original as possible. Still a 30-30 solid lifter cam. Has the DZ carb and 69 heads.
