The AIM shows the lower hose crossing over the upper hose for a V8 engine. However, I see a lot of pictures that have a band around both hoses that attaches to the alternator. Which is the correct way to install the hoses? Thanks.

I can confirm that my build date is August 29 1969 per NCRS and first 3 of the last 6 digits of my vin are 677. It is an X77 car and it came with cowl from the factory (I share this since I think that was a later option). As to the other car, it has been with the same owner since 1974 and sitting in his garage since 79-80. It too has the cowl hood from factory, is an x33, and the plate says 11D and I believe the First digit of the last 6 started with a 7.

My friend is restoring a 69 Z28 X33 built in November 69. The car has its original tach and it is a 6000 to 7000 rpm tach. Any thoughts why it did not have the 8k or 8500 tach? I also have my original tach and it is a 6k to 7k tach too and my car was built August 29, 1969. Just curious.

I have read that 10 to 15 pounds at an 800ish rpm idle is fine, but like a new parent I just need reassurance that everything is fine.

The engine was just professionally rebuilt, I have less than 300 miles on it. I just changed the oil and filter to rule that out. I used the classic ac delco PF25 filter and Shell Rotella T4 15W-40 oil. The block and heads are original but the block was bored .20 over. Although engine has new internal parts we used parts that resembled original parts. Like a solid lifter cam. The instrument gauges on the floor are new. When the oil pressure drops at idle the temperature gauge goes up, not in the red, which makes sense to me. I was told I should use a 160 thermostat.

is it normal for the oil pressure in a 302dz to drop to around 10 on the gauge when the engine is warm and is idling, for example when I sit at a red light? As soon as I give it gas the pressure goes back up around 45. If this is not normal, any thoughts why this is happening? Thank you.

Thanks for the information. I just restored a 69 x77 built August 28, 1969. I won't have the right battery topper because they don't make one for a Y77 battery but I plan to put on the correct tires for the show. I just have a hard time paying around $500 or more for a bumper jack. But I am checking eBay every day. Everything else should be correct. Matching number engine and rear. Transmission is an m22 from a 73 camaro. I have an AM radio but a FM antenna, not sure if that will cost me.
