Maintenance / testing brake booster

Is there any way to test the brake booster without the engine running?
Could I use a vacuum pump to test.  Any help would be appreciated.

David,
I have a '69 SS w/ 396-325 hp that has a return line.
I think the return line was used on the 396 w/ a quadrajet carb.
Look on page 279 of your AIM
The filter with return line is really expensive.
Good Luck

nice collection 69houdini,
Gardner exhaust is without a doubt the best choice, except for the cost.
Thanks for the info

I am pretty sure I know what I need, just would like to find a vendor that does. The stiffner on the convertible is the issue as the pipes must go above it in the drive shaft tunnel, which is pretty tight.
I talked to the guy at Gardner and he seems to know what he is doing, but I hate to spend $1000 on a exhaust system and drive it down the road.
The thing is I just want to drive not show, and I need to keep the cost down.
I bought this car new and am trying to get her on the road again after setting in the garage for many years.
Had to change out the clutch and pressure plate because the mice carried dog food pellets into the bell housing and it glazed over the clutch.
Thought it would be a good time to put back the exhaust to like factory.
Like the fool I was in my youth I replaced the factory exhaust with glass packs ( does sound good! ) but failed to keep the original system.
Might just have to put the glass packs back on.
By the way
This forum is great

Thanks bertfam for the info.
I have the AIM but there is no schematic I have found, although I will look again.
I will also check Sams photofacts.
Thanks again for the info.

Originality / '69 console mounted 8 track player
« on: December 01, 2017, 03:26:53 PM »
I have a '69 SS 396 convertible. When I ordered this car I got the console mounted 8 track player.
I have looked everywhere to find info on this unit to no avail. I guess they where not very common, but I know it was a factory option.
I would like to find a wiring diagram and any other info available.
Also where it might be repaired.
Thanks

Maintenance / '69 Camaro SS convertible heater core replacement
« on: December 01, 2017, 01:42:45 AM »
I have a 69 SS 396 convertible that I bought new ( ordered from local dealer ).
Hugger Orange w/ white top and interior. As you may realize this car is part of my family.
I seems the heater core has developed a leak.
Any advice on the best approach to replace it. Can I get to it from the inside to avoid removing the inner fender and fender?
Any help would be appreciated.
