Originality / Help with Z/28 proof?
« on: October 19, 2017, 12:18:16 AM »
Ihave new piece of evidence maybe? Iwould like some expert opinions as to NCRS production date and how it correlated to delivery to the dealer.   as many of you know I have a 68 SS or Z/28, thats all i can prove, I have posted many pics on here of the correct Z intake, oil fill tube, oil cap, carb, exhaust manifolds, fan blade, distributor, rear end, firewall w/ muncie hole, 4 spd hole reinforcement plate, thermo housing, oil pan, dip stick, valve covers, DF rims etc etc...all dated before the manufacture date and by your opinions within the normal range for the cars date.  but the MO block and trans are not with the car.  a forum member saw some of my posts and sent me some original sale ads from Bill Conner Chevy Inc. the NCRS tells me thats where my car was shipped to. One of the ads is an Action sale ad thats for second week of August! my car was finished at GM on July 10th, the ad clearly shows a 68 Z/28 in British green for sale !! in my crazy mind that may very well be my car ???    anyone offer any info on time between completion to delivered?

Originality / M22
« on: September 14, 2017, 02:52:45 PM »
Can somebody explain the process of how a 68 camaro would get a m22 from the factory? I was under the impression All 68 Z cars received the m21?  I've run across 2 68 Z28's with supposedly factory M22's both are dated early to mid 68. One is march, the other is June?  Niether One has a partial vin ????

Originality / couple of questions !
« on: July 08, 2017, 02:14:06 AM »
thanks in advance for your answers!

1. I notice HBC has a 5 blade 4 rivit 68 Z reproduction fan blade. It has the H stamp and all, obviously its way cheaper than the correct fan. I cant tell the difference? Is it different and how??

2. Is the correct radiator tank codes for 68Z    OD and IH ?   I have looked at the chart it seems all small block manuals are the same ? i thought the Z had some special radiator?

3. Team camaro has a 4053 carb for sale, states original l78/ z28, has couple of pictures and the front bowl has some funky little vent valve on top. mine does not have that? yet I posted pics on here and everyone says mine is correct?

« on: April 28, 2017, 02:58:16 AM »
I have read every searchable topic on here about air cleaners plus I have googled every way possible to find info.

I still have several questions. Thanks in advance for info and answers
1. Is the 67  assembly  line unit the same as 68?
2. Are any other hp cars the same?
3. Is the 6423907 the same as assembly line unit or just otc correct replacement?
4. Am I worrying to much about the wire cleaner

I can get a reproduction cheap enough but the articles aren't very flattering ?

Originality / Bypass fitting 68Z
« on: March 16, 2017, 03:24:46 AM »
Ok so my fitting is hex rather than square. Is it supposed to be brass or steel ? Played or natural? And lastly mine is not perfectly 90 degrees it appears to be aimed slightly downward?  Bent? Correct?  OTC part ?  No pic yet to post

The pump has just the small hole and the hub has a single set of holes rather than the eight hole set up?

Originality / Help please 68 z28 leafs ?
« on: March 08, 2017, 10:15:33 PM »
I finally got one of the leads off my 68 I found this car in a Ohio after looking at many photos I decided to gamble on it because it had many z28 clues. It has the muncie Speedo hole, rear bumper guards, 4 leaf leaf springs,  2 piece disk rotors, correct booster with wt cylinder, the hood header panel and the cowl panel have remnants of white stripes but very crackled and faded. The motor and trans were gone, owner statedhis sons drag raced the car and put " a big motor" and an automatic in it and does not know where the original engine is. The car has a 12 bolt BW rear housing with the gm 456 gears still in it.  This is all I really knew about the car when I purchased it, other than it had been sitting in a pasture for 15 years unprotected. When it was delivered to me the floor pans were rusted through as well as the rest of the bottom edges of the fenders, quarters etc.  It was very disheartening.  What I did t know was it came with many parts and pieces in boxes , that included the correct intake but pitted ( did not know aluminum could pitt) the correct distributor, bell housing, exhaust manifolds also pitted, carb, flywheel assorted pulleys, and a stock steering wheel. I don't know if it's real z28 or not there's not paperwork, I do have the title but it doesn't specify Z28, it's a Norwood car delivered to bill conner chevy in muncie indiana. So now you guys know pretty much everything I know about this car. I finally got one of the rust pitted springs off it pitted pretty bad I'm going to post pics to get opinion on original or fake and whether or not to reuse or get repros ? Sorry it won't let me add my pics due to size. Any opinions still appreciated
