Restoration / Re: Reverse Lockout

Lock-out parts are different between automatics & 4-speed.

Only Muncies used the two-tab swivel mount & upper lock rod 3945599. Small-blocks use lower lock rod 3955773; big-blocks 3955776. Saginaw 4-speed parts are not the same.

The '69 Camaro Assembly Instruction Manual is a great reference.

Thanks, so is it safe to say
that since my frame has only
two of the theee holes threaded , that the car was a factory muncie car?

Restoration / Reverse Lockout
« on: September 06, 2017, 10:33:39 PM »
Hello All !!

I am interested in installing the reverse
lockout linkage on my 69 BB RS/SS 4 spd ,
It seems there are a few variations of this and
I am not sure which version belongs in my car ,
I do know that there are 3 holes in the frame
at the mounting location
But only two of the holes are threaded .

Any help or direction is greatly appreciated !

Thanks
Jim

At last I figured it out !!!! :-[
The AIM shows the reverse lever at the
6 o'clock  position, but it should actually
be at the 7 o'clock , I had the lever on backwards
Flipped it over and all works like a charm!!!
Thanks for all your replies.

do you have the rod in the correct hole on the trans reverse lever ?
there are two holes and the lower hole is for the trans lockout rod
Hello,
I need your advice ,
When I got my car a BB 69 RS/SS non numbers
Car, it had a Blatantly wrong shifter ....
So I decided to buy a correct rebuilt
3138 shifter assembly, then I got a
supposedly correct aftermarket BB Linkage with
Mounting plate set up.
Everything installed and shifts great ,
except when I go into reverse , it seems that
The shifter travel is to long , pulling the reverse
Lever to a full 90 degrees from the neutral"down" position
Then that angle is such that I can't shift out of reverse.
Thanks for any help you can offer.
Jim
You should be able to screw the rod into the shifter adjustment nub further to shorten the travel. That's part of the basic set up procedure.

Thanks , I am certainly no expert on this ,
but with the shifter in the neutral position,
And all three transmission shift levers in the down,
Neutral position , there is no guess work as
To rod adjustment length?
