General Discussion / Power disc to manual brake conversion
« on: April 10, 2022, 10:07:36 PM »
Hello,

I'm in the process of converting my brakes from power to manual for drag racing.

I'm looking for anyone that has done this and would be willing to answer a few questions about brackets, springs, pedal height. etc... I'm getting close but want to make sure I'm buttoned up. Please send me a PM if you have a few minutes to spare.

Thanks in advance.

Jason

General Discussion / Re: Turn Signal Question
« on: October 16, 2019, 03:56:23 PM »
Thanks for the replies. I noticed that I am missing the ground wire from the battery to the passenger side fender. I also had the car running in the dark last night and the parking light is very dim (compared to the passenger side) and when I grabbed the pig tail, it went out. Going to start here and see if that helps.

General Discussion / Turn Signal Question
« on: October 08, 2019, 04:54:09 PM »
Folks,

Looking for some help with my turn signals.

Background:
1969 Camaro - Passenger side worked but drivers side would not flash. Started trouble shooting and wiring was a mess. All kinds of splices and some of the sockets were bad. Ground wire on drivers side was hanging on by a thread.

Step 1: Replaced the rear tail light harness along with both engine compartment harnesses. Still same issue. Drivers side would not blink. Would stay on solid. Passenger was fine.

Step 2: Replaced flasher under the dash by the radio. Both driver and passenger now flash, 4-ways, stop/tail all work! Everything works! kind of...

Now I have a different problem.

When I active the turn signal, the engine skips. Just while the cam is being selected. Once the lever is in place (signal on) no more miss.

I have no idea where to start. Ground? Steering column issue?

Hoping some one has experienced this and might have a solution. I can try posting a video if that would help. It almost stalls the engine. I'm at a loss.

Thanks,

JBALL

Maintenance / Electrical Issue
« on: September 25, 2016, 09:58:52 PM »
Hello,

I have an issue with my '68 Camaro and was wondering if anyone here might have an idea as to what's wrong.

Background:
Took the car for a quick spin around the block. Stopped at a light and when it was my turn to go, I took off fine.. shifted into 2nd and lost all power..

After a ride on the roll back, the car is back in the garage.

Things I tried:
Replaced the coil - No good
Replaced the MSD 6AL box no good
Checked the magnetic pick up in the distributor with an ohm meter, and it seems to be in spec.
Replaced the rotor button. Was quite crispy

Checked the fuse box and found that the fuse marked "dir sig" and "back up" fuse was blown. The red ignition wire from the MSD box is plugged in to a terminal to the left of this. Replaced the fuse and soon as I turned the key it popped.

I moved the red MSD wire to the accessory terminal and now I have spark at the coil. Car still will not start. Turns over fine. The fuse still blows as soon as you hit the key.

I'm at a loss.

Any ideas would greatly be appreciated.

Thanks,

Jason Ball

Thanks! That helps.

Appreciate your help. Will you be at the Camaro Nationals in a few weeks?

Hello,

I have located the original seats for my 1968 Camaro. The current owner has offered to give me the seats at N/C as long as I pay shipping. Does anyone know what a standard 1968 Camaro seat weighs?

Thanks,

I've been to SLS/Carlisle the last two years.

I'm going to try the Camaro Nationals this year.

Looks like fun.
