Hi All
Here is an update on the car. It did very well at Vintage Certification at MCACN.
It achieved Legend.....Time Capsule was very much in reach.
It fell short mainly on the exhaust system....which is all GM....just later over the counter components and on tires. 1 was 68 dated, two are 69 dated, one was a 73 date and one was a re-pop.....just couldn't find that last tire!
The car was very well received.....I was happy.
A special thanks to Steve and his Vintage program. Steve is a true good guy and car guy and puts a tremendous effort into the program.
I will post pics once I get them sorted out.
Thanks to all that helped!
Jim

I brought my 69 Z for Vintage Certification. Here is a pic of Steve raising it up.
Again I thank Steve for all the hard work and passion in putting this program together.....a true hobbyist all the way.

For a 69 Z - should the French locks be the rounded or square tab? Also - I think only the center bolts got washers - yes? No?
Thanks

You can add another 02A  25 69  (upside down 5) on the list....that's what's on my car.

Never seen that clamp style on any '60s GM car.

No idea why there would be white paint daubs near the motor mounts. The recall letter does not mention such a procedure.

They are actually big splotches of white.....appears to be spray bomb applied. I see no reason for that to be on there. Very strange.
Here is a pic.

Originality / A few 69 Z questions...
« on: September 08, 2016, 05:19:24 PM »
Hi All

I was looking at some pics of a 69 Z.
The car looks like it is fairly original.
The exhaust appears to have original head pipes but the clamps are not the typical "guillotine" style clamps. They are a single bolt Q-clamp. They only have one nut. I have attached a file pic so you can see what I'm talking about. A lot of Mopar's used these on the exhaust tips. I have never seen these anywhere else through the years such as at muffler shops, auto parts places etc......only the guillotine style.

Has anyone seen these on original cars?

Also....around the motor mounts there was splotches of white paint sprayed....and not neatly. The car did not have the "recall" cables around the mounts.....wondering if this is what the dealer did to show they checked the mounts...or??

Thanks

Jim

I seem to remember they used the US master but deleted the proportioning valve?

That's nuts. If Grand Spaulding Dodge has paperwork on a car they charge around $500.00 - for the complete original jacket (file)....not just copies.  And there are usually some goodies in those files....like spare keys, owners manuals, factory invoice etc.

Gorrie's Chev in Toronto did them

Hi All - What would be the correct air cleaner element for this car based on production date etc. Would it be 6423272 ?
What should I look for in terms of markings, mesh shape etc. ?
Thanks
Jim
