I'm sure I can speak for others here, we learn a ton from these threads and pics.

Welcome aboard. Nice car. Those wheels look great on your Camaro.

They are relatively original to the car. Here is a pic from 68

Yes, welcome Tim. Do you know where it may have been raced? That may help.

In the SYC thread I believe it was Lions drag strip in CA.

That is what is suspected. While the whole racing thing is left to folk lore, the car does appear to have had ladder bars, slicks, and some hard launches. This thing is not quite a virgin ;)

I just thought I would introduce myself on this website (at the suggestion of Darrell Cook). I have a 68 L78 Camaro that was purchased at Harry Mann Chevrolet. While I would perhaps post this in the originality or unrestored section, this is a Day 2 car by definition. Moderator's, feel free to move this wherever you see fit.

I have been rather active on the Yenko.net website. Here is the thread I have going on the car......

http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php/topics/595522/harry-mann-68-l78-l88-camaro#Post595522

This car is not completely unknown. Some of you are rather familiar with the car. I am in the process of documenting (if I can) a gap in the history of the car.

I (and my Wife) will be at the MCACN show in the Day 2 Invitational. Feel free to say hello!

If you take the time to read through the thread, you will again see I am on the hunt for information revolving around the 2nd owner who may have drag raced the car around 1971 before he was killed in a car accident. If you have a suggestion as to where to look, ask, dig, investigate..........................whatever................................please chime in or PM me.

In advance................thanks for a great website that is void of the drama.

Tim

This link is from when I bought the car back and my Wife recorded me unloading.

I do have some pics around here somewhere.

Original motor, trans, heads. I had to rebuild the motor (piston pin) and the damn machine shop decked the block when I specifically told him not to. Thankfully, its a Norwood car and the stamp on the casting was legible.

The car also had what I thought...................were some cool over the counter parts

OTC JL8 rear end
J56 calipers
Daytona? springs. Sat about an inch lower than any other Z28 I had seen
Old Koni shocks.

Did not know much about these cars back then. Certainly did not know what I had.

Originality / 68 Camaro SS Dual Exhaust Muffler Detail

Would someone be able to provide photo detail of original muffler / pipe / clamp detail on an unrestored car? I am evaluating what I have to do in order to replace the junk (baffles) muffler on my 68 396 car.

Thanks!
