General Discussion / Re: 1968 1969 headlight actuator shields

I think with few exceptions (inner fenders, suspension) every part has a date code or part number. I've verified fenders, doors, door skins, etc. Since I like original and survivor cars, it's nice to know the details. Thanks for the help.

Thanks. Mine were long gone, so I have nothing to go by and want the car correct.

There's a lot to know about these cars. Would you happen to have a build date on the big block car?

I was looking in the aftermarket world for the headlight actuator covers 3925475 and 3925476. When I checked the repops at Heartbeat City, their description stated that no 68 Camaro had these with an embossed number. As luck would have it, I found a NOS left side with the part number cast in it. So if HB City is correct, did I buy an over the counter part?

Originality / Re: 1968 RS rocker panel molding holes in rear quarter

Thanks for the info on the hole dimension, it really helps! I think I can muddle my way through where to drill the holes.

I know this is an old topic, but I have yet to find an answer. I actually made templates of these holes from my original quarters before they were replaced and the body shop lost them. Thinking I was covered, I scrapped the quarter panels. Now I have a painted car and no holes. I did order the templates online, but they aren't made off the original location or hole size, rather, they are made for the "new" aftermarket hardware and aren't even close. Did you happen to make a template or copy the dimensions? I've looked in the AIM and they aren't there, I think because Fisher did all but the front end before it went to the Chevrolet side, so there was no need to put them in there.

Has anyone bought anything from NOS Parts From the Past? I have 10 items in transit that i purchased for what i thought was a very good price and he has more. Winter is very thorough and organized, even to the point of sending pictures to make sure your getting what you want. He hasn't pulled my parts off the inventory yet, so these numbers are gone:
916638, 3840955, 3886657, 3891795, 3897333, 3916654, 3919064, 3919156, 3927485, 3927486.
I searched every group individually, and there's still parts covering several generations of Camaros still there,  so definately worth a look.

I was looking at the Las Vegas Craigslist today, and under "1967 Camaro rs" there is a yellow coupe with a photo of what appears to be a build sheet of some sort. Can anybody tell me what this is?

General Discussion / California vehicle history report
« on: October 29, 2018, 01:04:55 PM »
Last September I went online with the Sacramento DMV information services in an attempt to get the vehicle history on my 68 rs ss. Filling out the vehicle/vessel registration record on the INF 70 form was pretty straight forward, or so I thought. I filled out section 1, and checked the ownership history box in section 3. Here is the tricky part, section 4. I typed in motor vehicle or driver safety and theft. After all, it was an example they provided. Wrong. It came back a month later wanting clarification in section 4. It seemed promising because they didn't reject it outright. So I did some research here and elsewhere, and in section 4 added that the car was being restored and I was looking for an owner that was famous that could enhance the value of my car. 2 weeks and $5 later, pay dirt! I got a list of owners back to 1979. No addresses of course, but that's ok, I have 2 strong leads already. Hope this helps.
