General Discussion / '69 metering valve leak

Ive recently rebuilt the distribution block and metering valve in my '69 with new seals for the metering valve and valve rebuild kit from Muscle Car Research. The distribution block and metering valve have been soda blasted and appear to be in great condition, the issue I am having is when the brakes are applied brake fluid is leaking from the rear of the metering valve where the "shaft" slides in/out. Im still getting lots of fluid at all four wheels when brakes are bled. I have 3 '69 metering valves that have been rebuilt with the parts from Muscle Car Research and all 3 leak. I have got rid of all the old dot 3 and are using dot 5 now which Scott from Muscle Car Research says is compatible with dot 5. I haven't figured out what is causing the brake fluid to leak from the metering valve in the rear, any help would be greatly appreciated.

I want to hook up my repro/stock tach in my '69 which has never been hooked up because I had an Autometer in the car that's gone now. I have a MSD 6AL ignition box, MSD distributor and MSD coil in the car. I don't want to fry anything so I need some clarity how to get it working properly. Am I using the stock wiring from the harness (fork connector with 2 wires, another fork connector with one wire) that hang by the wiper motor to connect to coil? There is talk about some filter for the tach, is there a filter in this tach? YES or no? MSD says connect gray wire from ign box to somewhere which I don't know where! So what I need to know is: am I simply hooking up stock wires to coil from harness to make it work? IF that doesn't work am I using the gray wire from the MSD box to get the tach to work and where does that wire go, and what about this "tach filter? MSD's instruction booklet for the 6AL box says "bypass in-line filter. Thank you for any help

I am wondering about the bellcrank felts, it appears they are approximately 9/16 I.D and 1.5" O.D. The bellcrank I.D is a lot smaller than 1.5", do you just "stuff" them inside? Also, on the frame side you would have a bushing then ball then bushing then clip then felt? Engine side, you would have bushing then stud then weird looking clip then felt?

I thought soda blasting wasn't supposed to take down rust.
Little surface rust when its used with water. If its pretty rusty then use sand or something more aggressive than soda. My buddy has a professional blaster and he blasts high end cars! Ferraris, Porsche, Rolls Royce, Corvettes, etc. The soda is so gentle but works great, especially those fiberglass bodies.

Mild Modifications / Hotchkis leaf springs

Hi everyone, I'm looking at buying some used Hotchkis leaf springs. #2407C (24910014) is the 1.5" drop; #2413C(24910015) is the 3" drop. I'm looking at buying the 3" drop ones but the seller doesn't have any markings left on the springs and he didn't buy them new. Does anyone know visually the difference between the two? Does one have 3 leafs and the other have 4!

Thanks John, there is a bit of a "valley" on top of the wiper motor that seems should or could have wiring run through it. Wiring that would be run under the washer motor seems would interfere with the accelerator rod.

soda blast it. sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) works extremely well.

A good name brand gear oil will do the job. I've heard the synthetic may be a little too slick just like for trannys also.

Just wondering if the adjuster on the rear drum brakes should be touching the spring that holds the shoes together?
