Also remember that this engine was in this car since 1974  so the numbers are real and I didn't make a mistake writing them but I am cleaning the engine and taking detail pics of it and if u guys find the car it belongs to or someone that's missing a 302 I'm willing to give it up no questions
I've seen in my years that GM has made big mistakes in castings so this might be the case!!
I wish I knew more about these cars before I made the mistake I made 6 years ago when I found a 1969 COPO and traded it for a fully restored 1969 SS .i didn't know why he wanted my car soo bad he told me it was bcuz he wanted a factory drk green camaro  and didn't want to paint his light blue SS so me like a dummy went for it
I went to his shop and he has the body siting on a huge shelf talking about very high numbers and that I would never get it back

I'm glad u can help but is this motor worth keeping?? I was going to put it in a 1968 camaro SS clone I have but if I can find the real car it belongs to I will give it up for a LS motor just to keep the original car with its motor as long as there's proof that the car is suppose to have this motor I am willing to give it to any hardcore Chevy man like me that strives on making sure these cars survive the next generation!!
I'm a 45 year old hardcore Chevy man that's had many collector cars including N all original JL8 car that I made a big mistake selling but I didn't know anything about it so it went
That being said I didn't want to make the same mistake with this rare engine and give it to some kid for his 76 Monte Carlo ..
Help me get this engine to the right owner like I said all I want is to make sure its the real deal b4 I give it up thanxx

Decoding/Numbers / Help decoding this PA Amish barn find 302 engine
« on: June 16, 2013, 08:18:15 AM »
I need help with this engine numbers I posted it in another web site and all I got was sarcasm please help me I need help decoding it.
Let me start  with that it was installed in a 1963 impala SS 4 spd car back in 1974 by the original owner  and it was given to his son in 1982 and last registered in 1984.. His son then left it in PA in a storage garage and was sold to the guy I bought it from
He told me he didn't do anything to the car and that the engine was original so I took the numbers down and I tried to decode them but it makes no sense bcuz this engine has been in the car to my knowledge since 1974 and if I'm correct in those years they weren't stamping engines so if u guys can help me please decode this engine for me please thanxxx
These are the deck numbers
19N556777
V1203MO
Casting is
3932386
Date casting is
K198
I took the oil pan off and verified it is a four bolt main so that puts it into either 350 or 302 but I thought the 350 didn't have them in four bolt main but I might be wrong please help me with this ill be waiting for your replies thanxx
