Those factory 'gauges' are one step above idiot lights. If your concerned about the status of the engine, quality after market gauges are the way to go.  According to your thermal gun your engine is operating normally, maybe a tad bit on the cool side.

Check the stick with the drawing in the Hurst catalog, if it's a match? All the other numbers are good. Assuming everything else is factory correct there should be no clearance problems e.g. no scatter shield and block plate. I had to move my console back for a different reason than yours(installed aftermarket trans.) It wasn't/isn't cosmetic but it works.

Sorry, it's just another Gen.1 ripoff. The magic of the Z/28 was lost with the lt1. I was hoping GM would of built a 5 litre beast to spank the Boss 302. Maybe they can rebadge the car a Panther or something.  I guess you really can't go back home again.

I have a 1968 partially unrestored console car 12437 LOS 46626 - 07C- J625 The firewall appears to be unmolested but I cannot guarantee that it wasn't. Disregard the red wire in the oil line hole. Hope this helps. Bob
