Restoration / Re: Kick panel sealant - where and how much?
« on: January 01, 2016, 06:11:39 PM »
I agree with Cook_dw - I used the Gardner Bender putty from Home Depot as well. I warmed it in my hands to make it very plyable able put a VERY liberal amount on the Kick Panel. I this case, more is better than less as long as you make sure it is warm and easy to form.

Restoration / Re: Tic Toc Tac AIM / CRG Redline Discrepancy
« on: December 28, 2015, 11:28:10 PM »
Ed, thank you very much. I was using aftermarket part number cross reference for the rpm, and then compared to the AIM. While it is very faint, with a magnifying glass, I was just able to see the ink stamp of the 6468713 part number on my 5000 Redline tach.

Restoration / Tic Toc Tac AIM / CRG Redline Discrepancy
« on: December 28, 2015, 08:36:54 PM »
Guys I am confused about the correct Redline Tach for my 68 L30. Virtually every post here and the CRG Visual Chart says all small blocks (except 302) should have a 5000 RPM redline However, when I look at the AIM for the U17 option, it has the 6468713 part number tach (5500 Redline) identified as correct for all small blocks. The 5000 RPM Redline is identified as correct for the L34 and L35 big blocks.  Can anyone shed some light on this?

Restoration / Re: 68 Vert Space Saver

Boston, much appreciated. Would you happen to have a pic of the top half of the sleeve and know if it was just an open tube or if it had a metal lid?

Restoration / 68 Vert Space Saver
« on: May 23, 2015, 08:08:09 PM »
Looking for a little guidance on a space saver inflator bottle - I have my bottle, but I have seen pictures of them with a black cardboard sleeve, with the decal on both the bottle and the sleeve. Is this correct? Also, does anyone have the dimensions and/or pictures of the sleeve (what I have seen seems to show the sleeve only covering a portion of the bottle)?

Restoration / 68 L30 / M35 Starter 1108361 or 1108367 ?
« on: February 20, 2015, 04:26:18 PM »
I have found conflicting information on the correct starter for my 68 RS 327 L30. CRG has all L30s with the 1108361 while other posts have only the L30 / M20 package getting the high torque 361, with all others getting the 1108367. Does anyone know the correct application for my Powerglide package?

Restoration / 68 Delux Dash Trim Install
« on: October 06, 2014, 12:00:39 AM »
I have an original stainless dash trim set and after restoring, I am getting ready to install. I am looking for an alternative to removing the dash pad and drilling holes. Does anyone have any experience or an opinion on folding the tabs down tight and using a 3M body tape to adhere the trim to the pad?

Restoration / Re: 68 inner quarter pinch weld / door gap
« on: April 19, 2014, 07:35:57 PM »
Mike, thanks for the note - I might be missing something, but the outside gap with the door and quarter are good. If I move the door forward, that gap will be large and I amd not sure I can move the fender forward enough for the front edge door gap.

Restoration / 68 inner quarter pinch weld / door gap
« on: April 15, 2014, 10:11:24 PM »
Hey Guys, I am in the home stretch of my restoration and think I have a problem. I had new full quarters installed in my 68 RS Vert. While getting ready to install the interior I have found the top of the inner quarter pinch weld is tight against  the door seal, without the door panel or windlace installed. The exterior body panel alignment is perfect. I am afraid I need to go back o the body shop.

does anyone have any pictures of the pinch weld to door gap witout the interior panels?

Restoration / Re: Wiring lume for the trunk of a 68 rs
« on: April 03, 2014, 11:00:27 PM »
Yup, 68rs327conv is right, the rear harness connects up at the dash. You have two choices - as there are only a couple of wires that go to the rear, you can splice it behind the rear seat/quarter windo area, you can re-tape the original wiring if you are only looking for cosmetic upgrade, or you can take everything apart and plug the new harness in at the front........sorry.

Restoration / Quarter Window Vertical Chrome
« on: December 15, 2013, 02:57:42 PM »
I purchased a set of OER chrome moldings for my quarter windows. I am looking for some expertise on installing them (glass is in the car). I have looked at all the posts on the subject, and still have questions - I know the originals were pressed on with a tar like paper. The Aftermarket come with rubber channels, but by themselves do not hold the molding on firm enough. If I use urethane to glue the molding, do I glue the rubber channels to the glass first and then glue the chrome molding over the rubber channel with another bead of urethane? If I use urethane, can I just eliminate the bubber channels and glue the glass directly to the chrome piece?
