Restoration / Re: '69 LM1 ground strap locations
« on: December 07, 2011, 04:19:06 PM »
Thanks guys, it looks like I have them in the right place after all. Regarding the wire looms; I've lost them through a few moves. Were these stamped steel parts shared with any other cars of the same vintage? Maybe I could salvage them from parts cars/engines.

Restoration / '69 LM1 ground strap locations
« on: December 06, 2011, 10:24:34 PM »
Hello, I just reinstalled the LM1 in my '69 RS and think I have the ground straps in the wrong locations. I just attached them to the valve covers temporarily. Can anyone tell me where they are really supposed to go? I don't have the service manual yet.

I also need the correct coil bracket if anyone has a pic of what that looks like. Thank's for the help

Yes the banjo style is what came on mine. I got the later style from a friend just to keep the power steering from screaming. I have kept all of the original parts to get it back to stock condition, that's the plan. I'm glad some people like the gold, you don't see it often and I really want to restore the car to the way it rolled off the assembly line.

With the 12 bolt, I assume it's an LM1?

Gold and RS - nice combo!

Yes it is. It has around 5,000 miles on a rebuild and I believe it's the original engine. I don't' see anything on the stamp pad so I'll have to do some more searching for the engine stamping.

Ok here are some pictures. She's pretty rough but coming along little by little. I've been addressing some rust issues and working out a lot of dents. The repro fenders will come off when I get the originals straight.

I have a Olympic Gold 1969 RS with D96 striping, a 350/TH350, 12 bolt, and white standard interior. It was left to my by my grandmother who bought it in 1969. I've got the protecto-plate and the original window sticker, along with the owner's manual and even the sleeve that came on the sun visor! I've always loved the car and remember riding around in it since I was a little kid. I've been working on it lately and finally got it running for the first time in years. It actually needs a total restoration starting with a good amount of body work, but at least it keeps me out of trouble. For now. I'll post some pics here soon and list all of the info for your data base. Thanks for the cool site.
