General Discussion / Re: Storage during off season ?
« on: November 28, 2020, 02:56:12 PM »
I know a guy that had a 67 L78 Chevelle and he would start it once a week during winter storage and let it run a few minutes. Then one time he hit the key switch to start it and “Boom!!”. Internal engine explosion. It puffed out the valve cover, blew valve cover “, intake , carb, distributor gasket out. Even the pan gasket. He was lucky it didn’t catch fire and burn everything.
I think the Holley carb some how let gas seep down into the engine or fuel pump failure will pump gas into the bottom end. Who knows but it happened.
I never start my car during winter storage.

I keep my car on a piece of carpet on a concrete floor. In late summer when the humidity is high here I’ll leave the ceiling fan on low for a few weeks. Most of the time no fan or any heat. My garage is well insulated so it doesn’t get very cold. Works for me.

Maintenance / 67 left turn signal issue
« on: August 27, 2016, 01:39:05 AM »
When I turn on the left turn signal both front signal lights flash but kinda dim. Rear lights work properly as does the right side in front. When I turn on the parking lights the left front does not come on. When turning on the parking lights I see the left turn signal indicator in the dash flash on but briefly. I think its a ground issue but have checked all places as shown in the electrical schematics. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Richard

It won't amount to a hill of beans. Our real cars will hold their value.

I'm sure the guys at Atlas Plating can fix it. Kinda made an indention in the spoke but didn't break the chrome. Made me sick Rick the wheel was in perfect condition. I'll figure out something.

I didn't take the car just the wheels. I know better than that. A guy on the sYc site said he had a set of 15x10 NOS for sale.

General Discussion / Replacement Cragar SS early style 15x8 reverse
« on: May 29, 2015, 06:27:11 PM »
Last Saturday I changed tires on my early style Cragar SS 15x8 reverse wheels. The tire changer damaged one of the spokes on a wheel. They have agreed to replace my wheel but my challenge now is finding one. Chevy pattern or unilug is fine. Anyone know where I can buy one? Must be NOS or near perfect.

My intake is the Torker TM2R which they called their street version. I recently talked to a guy that ran one on his car in the 70's and what he did was bend the rod a little.
He said it will work fine. I remember when they came out and have always thought they look cool on a car. It will a winter project for me some day. Thanks for the input.

If I put an Edelbrock Torker intake on my 67 Camaro big block what kind of throttle linkage set up do I need. I will use my 780 Holley on it.

Thanks,
Richard

General Discussion / Re: Crager SS wheel & tire size question
« on: April 02, 2015, 10:14:19 PM »
Jek9016, My white 67 is on the home page this month. Last year I put cragars on my car 15x4 with 165R 15 on front and 15x8 reverse with 225/60R/15 on the rear. I have 4 caliper disc in front and had to use a 1/2 inch spacer for clearance. No issues with the tire size on the front but the 225's out back just don't look good to me. They don't fill the wheel well enough. I will change them to a 245/60r/15 soon. To each is his own about radial vs bias. I prefer radials because the car handles so much better. Also a good set of gas shocks really help the handling of our cars.
Stingr69 your blue Z really looks good with the Cragars.

General Discussion / Re: 67-9 Fuel lines
« on: December 07, 2014, 09:31:59 PM »
When Sherman G. Had the Bat Car he and I were always comparing things on our 67 L78,s. Both had 3/8 line but the routing once it was in the engine compartment was different. The last clip before the fuel pump was different. My clip is on one of the engine stool bolts. Sherman's was like the last pic that Darrell posted which I assume is his 68 car. The Bat Car is a 3rd. wk. May car and mine is 1st. wk. June.
