Garage Talk / Re: Muscle Car Museum Closing

There's 13 first gens. Most don't list VIN's or show trim tags. Shiny cars, but do your due diligence. May be hard to get near the cars to inspect.

124379N644383 - COPO that used to have no drivetrain.
124379N672561 - reputed COPO with complete set of repro docs.
68 RS/SS L34 - 749 interior not available in a convertible.
69 RS/SS L78 10-B -  729 interior not available in a convertible. Al head, but not mentioned.
124378L339792 - car was V-V, now A-A.

I'm curious about the 69 black L78 ragtop......  though doubtful....
Could you look at a car for me?
Which one? Not sure I will make it down there before they close!

Tonawanda big block
Engine assembly date: August 23rd

Your are correct regarding the engine suffix.  FWIW, I have the exact same engine in my ‘68 RS/SS Convertible.

General Discussion / Chevy Muscle Docs

I am following a BAT auction here:

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1969-chevrolet-camaro-z-28-14/

(Nice car by the way)

In the description of the auction, it mentions information from the Chevy Muscle Docs report that is quite extensive:

I was under the impression that the Chevy muscle docs only showed the original dealer delivery location?!?  Can you get this detailed information for any 1st gen Camaro?

Wow, the fact that eBay doesn’t do anything about this kind of stuff is scary. It’s a sad world now days.

Tonawanda.

Well, I think the 427 came from Tonawanda too, but they have a "P" cast next to the casting number:

If what you say is correct, why wouldn't they have a "T" Stamp as well?!?

Originality / Re: Correct original alternator for a ‘68
« on: July 20, 2020, 12:23:26 PM »
61A was optional (K76) as well. Was included with AC. Was gonna say all 3 could be correct until I seen the note from the "White Book"- "K79 Generator; 42 amp Delcotron (not available when 375 hp engine, air conditioning or Turbo Hydramatic is ordered)"

I dunno what the TH400 has to with it, but what transmission do you have ?

I have a four-speed manual. However, I also forgot to mention that the car is a convertible. Does that affect what standard alternator would be used?

What was the correct original alternator part number for a:

1968 396/325hp with power steering?

I can’t figure out if it was 1100794 or 1100813 (or some other version). Thanks for any help.

The trim tag will tell which interior it came with.

The interior trim code is 714, on the trim tag.

Yes, N34 was a stand alone option. But there are a lot of repo N34s. You should post a picture of your wheel.

You've got N34 confused with N30. On the CRG homepage under interiors read Ed's report on steering wheels:
http://www.camaros.org/swheel.shtml#sw68

Thanks for the link.  I think I have it sorted out now:

The N30:

was available as a stand-alone option for standard interior cars and was included with RPO Z23 special interior or RPO Z87 custom interior options.

The N34:

was the simulated walnut, wood-grained plastic wheel.

My last question, if you ordered the Z87 interior package that normally came with the N30, you could also order the N34 as a stand online option to replace the N30, correct?  I'm trying to figure out if my car came with the Z87 package.  It has all the items in the package but also has the N34 steering wheel.
