« on: May 13, 2022, 07:12:09 AM »

I passed on the car.  I had a 3.5 hour drive to see it and I didn't have my wife's blessing....

The car did come out of Maine... and it sold $45000.00 in less than a day.

Thanks for all the help....

General Discussion / Help Value for Z28 NOM
« on: May 11, 2022, 12:49:41 AM »
I came across a 69 Z28, NOM, missing most z28 parts in engine area, no docs, early pre- x code car,

condition from owner is about #3 daily driver with no issues... Car is a turn key...  something you wouldn't worry about getting a bug splat on it...

I just don't know what these cars are worth now a days....

Can someone help me ?

Thanks Joe

PS I believe the car is a real Z from what I checked so far...

General Discussion / I've been a GHOST to long...

Yikes !!! where to begin, I don't  dare blink... if I do another decade might fly by...
sorry guys I never meant to vanish... not sure when I last was on here logged in ...but would not be surprised if it was 2013 or even earlier...

I use to go to all the Camaro Nationals since 1990... sadly without any of my cars...  but none the less I always had a blast... beautiful cars and always good folks... I even started the Connecticut Camaro Club and after a few gatherings that too was put to the back-burner...

These were not my intentions... but here we are...

As some of you know I have been a US Army Paratrooper since 1983.  Duty kept me away from home more than I wanted.  I always thought I would have time in the near future.  So now it is the time... I am working at getting something running this year.

As you may not know I medically retired from the service... got banged up too many times I reckon. Any-who I was diagnosed with PD.  Life has been a whirlwind ever since... just more challenges to over come... one thing about Paratroopers is we never give up! Never!  and mind you I am not looking for pity or anything, this is just to let you know so when you see this grey haired old man shaken around you'll know....

One thing this past year that was pretty earth shaking was loosing my long time good friend , brother and Camaro buddy that many of you know...  Warren Malkin,Jr.

We always talked about everything from politics, our Constitution, including current events and always with some humor tossed in.... but mostly we talked about cars, depth discussions about Camaro's, Camaro parts, OEM finishes, racing, restoration, you name it.  Warrens research and discoveries are legendary... without even mentioning his rare parts wheeling-dealing,  ...often I think how fortunate I was to have such a good friend that could understand and articulate Chevrolet like a second language and instantly bring forth knowledge where the processes, part numbers, assemblies, changes, documents , AIMs bible and verse, and more from the top of ones head... like Kung Fu's The Master "...snatch the pebble from my hand Grasshopper." all for the love of a car... especially a 1969 Camaro...  With that said there are many of you who IMHO are also masters of this hobby... I could name names who merit their own clout but I'ld be writing even longer.

As I close let me point out where we were at the start of this Phenomenon and where we are today....I for  one would never have guessed it in a hundred years... just realize that we each helped some way some how... life is to short and we all are on a journey... the question is what is your journey's destination?
Are you Listening?

So Get out and drive that car, lay down some rubber, shift through the gears and savor every moment of happiness....

your humble Camaro Brother,  GI_Joe (Grasshopper)

General Discussion / 1968 Camaro standard lower valance types
« on: August 24, 2014, 10:13:40 AM »
Hello everyone: I hope this finds my Camaro family doing well.

I recently discovered I had two standard but different lower valances for my 68 currently in the body shop... one has additional holes and flanges on the inward lips... I know I should have taken some photos... but in my state of mind the CRS disorder must have flared up... as I never even thought about photos, which really amazes me when I do these things.. typically I take millions of photos...  Just so there is no added confusion; I am NOT talking about the RS lower valance.  The only things come to mind is possible bumper guards or a change within the production year... and I think 67 is different ruling that out

I'll post some photos asap...

PS  You all better watch out... This CRS stuff is please be aware of it

What's that CRS you say?

Originality / Re: 1968 z/28 brake booster inspection mark
« on: April 15, 2013, 04:45:01 AM »
PS   I would suggest that you try to find 2 very close build date original (not restored) cars to yours,,find something just prior to your car and something just after...

This way you are more likely going to be correct ... but bare in mind what i wrote above.

Originality / Re: 1968 z/28 brake booster inspection mark
« on: April 15, 2013, 04:23:36 AM »
why?   If you did not find it maybe your car did not have it.  Did you have it but re-plate without documenting it? I have a photos of an OEM 68 Z28 booster with no markings that I can see.

What I am trying to say is that too many folks put marks all over their car because they saw it on another Camaro and they think that is what is correct when in fact it may not be...  for example the inspection marks on a part may have been for a group of inspected parts and not every part got it... besides that things changed from day to day and car to car...

In order to preserve the true history one should only restore what they find on their car...

Please don't take me the wrong way... I am just trying to be helpful so with that said, it is your car...

General Discussion / Re: 1111499 on eBay
« on: April 12, 2013, 02:18:06 PM »
as of this hour 09:52 Eastern time April 12, 2013

IMHO I do not believe there are any OEM 499's on eBay  ...

and only one 170 OEM... out of several listed for $,$$$

with the possible exception of the one 499 listed above AND the Heartbeat City.. his 499's can't be seen with the photo he provides. and his 170s appear to OEM,, but again the photo is the issue.

again these folks may have been the victim...

Item location:
Rochester, Minnesota, United States

Something about this one???

Also for those of you who are looking for a distributor  ... feel free to email me... I will look at it and give you my evaluation about it.   ;D

Right now there are quite a few distributors on eBay for $,$$$ ...  and IMHO not OEM so BEWARE.   :(

here is a 169 dist that appears to have been sand or glass blasted..  the housings finish is ruined. This distributor could be real or faked.. best to pass on these...

BTW you can set up any dist to run just like the Hi Perf ones... you may need to change the weights, springs and re-curve it etc...
