Update - This motor has found it's home.  The original car and the motor are now united.  This is a real success story, after 31 years this unmolested DZ engine will be placed in the car that was born with it.

It doesn't get any better than this for the owner of the car.

So, what did I get out of this?  I traded this engine for an unmolested DZ engine that was assembled just 4 days before my original engine was assembled.  This is about as close as I am going to get, given the number of true DZ motors left in the market.

I bought this engine back in 1979 with the hopes that I would rebuild it to replace the missing 302 DZ engine in my 1969 Z28.  Well, I never got around to it and the engine has been sitting on the shelf, packed in grease, since 1979.  The engine is standard bore and in good condition.

If someone can provide verifiable evidence that they have the matching car for this engine, I will sell it.

Please respond to the following e-mail: dbutler201@verizon.net

Thanks.

General Discussion / Looking for my original 302 DZ
« on: June 20, 2009, 12:38:07 PM »
I have an original 1969 Z-28 (03E) that needs its original motor.  All other drive train components are original and the numbers match what's on the PoP.

Here is the info from the PoP.

VIN: 124379N626070

Engine Assembly Code: V0325DZ

The car is from Maryland and has stayed in Maryland.  Based on what I was told by the second owner, the engine was pulled sometime in the mid-70's and put into a drag car.

For what it's worth, I have another 302 DZ engine (almost complete), but the assembly date is too late for my car.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Research Topics & Reports / Re: 69 decklid emblem holes

I have an 03E car that has both sets of holes in the deck lid.

I spoke with the original owner who purchased the car from dealer and the spoiler package (D80) was installed at the factory, not the dealership.
