I'm not sure if this is the correct section for this question, but I'll post it here to start. Can anyone tell me what the colors were for the identification stripe on leaf springs? I saw it pointed out in the A.I.M. and have seen it reapplied on several cars at shows. It is the paint splotch located on the bottom side of the spring just before the front spring eye. I am specicically looking for the color for the '67 350 SS convertable color code. I have seen a light blue used on a '69 Z-28, but I'n sure that's not correct for my car.

Nope, the exterior dimensions would be the same.

I finally found a set of monoleafs off of a '68 convertable. I was cleaning them up and  I noticed some stampings in the springs. I had been under the impression that there were no markings on the springs, but now I have found very prominent stampings in the spring. On the outside of the eye where the pressed bushing goes there is a "2" stamped very clearly in both springs in the same location. On one of the springs there is a "G" stamped in the flat part of the spring near the smaller eye,the shackle end of the spring. Has anyone ever noticed these markings before, and if so what are they for, or what do they mean?

 I was cleaning up a set of mono leafsprings from a 68 camaro convertable. I notiiced some stampings in the springs. i had previouslt read that there were no markings on the springs, but now i have found very promiinate stampings in the spring. The lower shock in your picture has the skicker in about the same location as mine did. Mine were just a little higher that yours, but like you said there was no science to it, just get it on where it can be seen. I'll put the fronts on where they are on your picture. BTW, can anyone give me any feed backon the reprduction spiral shocks? They look like they are made well, but how do they preform and hold up?

High on the cylinder cover. They were about an inch or so below the top edge of the cylindrical shaped cover that covers the piston.

That was what I was looking for. I have a pair o NOS rear shocks, so I knew what the decal looked like, and where it went. It's ashamed they were is such bad shape. They were  yellowed, crumbling, and barely attached, but there was enough there for me to be able get a good idea of what they looked like. I had to make my own , as I was unable to locate a set of reproductions. After some research on here , I was able to determine what the code was for the fronts. I have a set of reproduction front shocks , and I made some decals for them. t I just wanted to make sure  got the placement correct, if there was such a thing...lol . After talking with you, I take it there is no right or wrong way, so i will place mine to the high side to keep them from harms way...lol.

What I really want to know is: did front shocks recieve a broadcast sticker like the rear onse did? And if so, I would like to know the approximate location of where it was placed on the shock.

Did all the shocks that were installed at the factory have the 2 letter I.D. sticker on them? If so, does anyone reproduce the stickers for a 67's? I have seen where the sticker is placed on the rear shocks, but I have not seen the location for the fronts. Can someone tell me the approximate location where the stick should be placed?

Yeah that's what I was thinking as well. I don't think however that less than 1/2" of travel and length will be and issue as far as the shock working properly.

When you say base model for '69 I'm assuming that is a monoleaf rear spring set-up. If so, then they should work for a '67 with monoleafs as well. They are about 1/4 to 3/8" difference in length and travel. That was part of my concern.

I bought them as NOS and they do have date codes. One is from 66 the other from 69. I was told these were both for a 67 camaro with mono leafs . They do look a little different , that's why I'm asking.  Not worried about date code, as much as fit and function. they are going on a "67 SS Camaro with mone leafs.

I have 2 original shocks. One is part 3 3192420. The other is 3192831. Can anyone tell me what these are for and if they are the same shock, just one is a newer part #.

yeah that's what I thought. GM didn't use washes in a lot of places you'd expect. If they're using a lock nut it would negate the need for a washed as well.

Yeah, I replaced the line twice, with no luck. It was only a drip, and the brakes work fine, but it leaks onto the frame, and that's just not acceptable. I'm a machinist by trade, and I see a lot of crappy machine work done on reproduction parts. I guess I will try to find a good used one instead of getting another new(made in china) one.  Thanks for the insite.
