General Discussion / Advice on 67 RS SS Vert search - please......
« on: February 11, 2013, 02:19:57 AM »
I need some advice on where to search for a 67 SS RS convertible. Anybody have an idea? I have been searching Camaros.net, EBAY and a couple other sites. I'm really not into buying from a dealer.

Thanks in advance for your assistance!

Decoding/Numbers / 67 RS SS vert Ebay - COWL TAG QUESTION?
« on: March 29, 2011, 03:56:41 AM »
What do you think of this cowl tag? It obviously has been reattached - somehow? Is it a fake tag? Thoughts on overall car? I noticed cowl tag doesn't match up to all options - supposed to be standard interior car, rear antenna.

Thanks for the input!

Decoding/Numbers / Big Block Indentification question?
« on: June 12, 2010, 03:48:26 AM »
I have a big block that I was told is a 427. It is a 512 block with an F16 date code. No suffix or numbers on the pad. Can someone tell me what it is? 427 - 454? what year? I also need to know what carburetor I need for it - it is a quad mount. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

This is a hot topic for all with flat tappet engines. Take a look at the Corvette Forum discussions and some great info at bobistheoilguy.com.

I've been studying for a couple of month's and decided to go with Valvoline VR-1 and a Pure1 filter(another hot topic). Both I can get from my local Advance Auto.  I also considered Mobile1 Sytnthetic 15W-50, available at the local Wally World. I have used synthetic before and I'm a firm believer. Like Jerry had mentioned, I have heard of people that have started useing and had trouble with leaking seals. Not sure of this, but I'm to lazy to take the chance.

Both oils have good zinc and phosphorus counts.....

Best of luck!    ;D

Nice car - kewl color!  I've always wanted a Royal Plum SS/RS Convertble! :'(

I've been "on the fence" about LED taillights for my '56 Chevy. They don't have very big taillights anyway. I DON'T like the look, to "rice burner". But if it would keep some stupid driver from smakin' the back of my car then..................

I recommend them from a safety standpoint, especially if you have a small tail light.  They were recommended to me from a guy who had a 39 Chevrolet.  Someone told him they could barely see his tail lights when they followed him, he changed his and was pleased.  I'm not pleased with the look as much, but my car is no trailer queen and it is frequently out at night - it was a huge difference as far as the light output.  It is also any easy change back.  I guess if I want to show as an original I will change back, about 30 minutes.  Until then, I will ride and hopefully be much more visable.  I'm more into the cruise in scene than the car show thing.  It's a tuff pill for me to swallow because I really believe in preserving originals, but I also believe in saving my car and my a$$.

To each his own - I like them all and completely understand the arguments!

The brand is PREMIER - Paid $89 + $8 shipping from vendor 904jandj12 on EBAY

Love the safety but don't like the look.  Don't they make individual LED bulbs now that you could just pop in the original tail light housing?

Yes they do - has anyone tryed these?

I agree with you - I like the safety thing but I'm not sold on the look.  Looks a little like Christmas when you hit the brakes.  With out any lights on they don't look bad, but they are quite of few shades lighter in red.  The factory lenses are a deep red.  I figure I'll run them a while and see how I like them.  I do like originality-but bolt on stuff is not a biggee, as long as I can easily change back to original.  Just like the wheels -I like the 17's but I also like original rallye's and period correct stuff.

KEYSTONE WHEELS AND CENTER CAPS

Thanks for everyones comments - I sorta agree with everyone - lol
