Originality / Re: 4939899 fan clutch????

Thanks Kurt..........I did see that after the fact. Just weird how the fan and clutch were both dated within a month of the car being produced.

Just researching and saw this. I know it's a little old but my 7A Z28 had this fan clutch (4939899) dated 160-69 with what looks like CH ink stamped on it ( the H is faded in spots) on the correct dated 772 fan. Thinking it is original but not sure.

Decoding/Numbers / Re: Trans date vs. engine date code
« on: December 26, 2008, 06:25:21 AM »
i think the trans date is june 30 not august 30......H=June on the trans, anyhow, my fan is F69 and my build is 07A so H69 could be august as well as the fan clutch

ok, i found that if i save the picture to my computer it will open  is there a way to figure out why it won't open with out saving it.....i hate to have to save and delete all the time to view the photos... i would think if it was my pop up blocker none would open, yet a small amount do. even when my pop up blocker is disabled......

Restoration / Re: Rear bumper bracket rivets
« on: April 08, 2007, 04:47:29 AM »
i have used them and they worked fine. i just put a dolly under the head of the rivet and used a large punch and hammer to crush the rivet. did it on the floor of my garage with the bumper very well protected.

it's your car do what makes you happy. with that being said......do keep all the original stuff so you could change it back if you were so moved. if my car was not a Z and was a lower HP car i would do the same thing. the change of color is a little harder to make that call. there is a lot involved to do a proper job in the first place. that would be a lot of work to change the color back to original at a later date......not impossibe just a lot of work. swapping out the engine and trans is no big deal. ;)

charley......this sure is an intresting thread for sure......i'm wondering if the L35 engine could be from one of the CEC test vehicles since they were just going to tear the engine down and blueprint it anyhow, so the vehicle it came from might be one of the one's that got "crushed". anyhow all the bickering aside. the fact that the car is still around and "saved" is all that really matters. hope i get to see it in person someday.
