Decoding/Numbers / Re: Caveat Emptor...another tag mismatch

X44D80, little odd but possible. Hidden VIN would tell the story.

I used Petronics but the single wire Ed used would be easier to hide since mine is two wire. Either of them will probably do fine since they eliminate the resistor or resistor wire that points require. You might want to make sure whatever you use will work with your tach.

Not sure about the stock looking HEI. I use the electronic conversion that fits under the stock cap with a HO coil. The coils are usually chrome or ?? but I just paint them black. Works pretty good.

Restoration / Re: restoration of copo

While SCW has a great reputation I would think the COPO,s as well as the Z28,s have been researched enough that other shops that do good work could handle the job. The specific parts and dates are well known. Finding them might be the challenge.

General Discussion / Re: Chrome shifter ball

I remember buying one for my 61 impala 4 speed with stripped shifter threads from JC Whitney. Had a set screw.

I personally have learned more about camaros and GM from this site than anywhere else. If examining cars that are listed on public sites brings forth knowledge that I want to hear then so be it. If someone does not want their item discussed then do not list it on a public site. Even this discussion has shown me things I did not know. Thanks guys for sharing your extensive knowledge with me.

Odd thing is if it is a good body and has what he says, the price is not stupid.

General Discussion / Re: Anybody know this Z28 ?
« on: October 09, 2018, 01:45:29 PM »
My 12A L78 is optioned exactly like your Z Jimmy. My previous statement about the Ebay Z being correct for the time was referring to the fact that although odd one could be ordered like that before the tach was required. I have looked at a one owner 69 Z in NC that had no tach or anything that was not standard on it. The odd thing is when someone springs for several options like RS and  upgraded interiors and leave off the tach and gauges of a performance car.

I do not remember seeing any factory shift balls that had a set screw. Only aftermarket stuff.

Actually it is not a center fuel guage and has no tach which seems odd but it fits the time. My 08E has RS, comfortweave, the required tach, but no console, no gauges, and the center fuel guage. I agree the car does look nicely done.

If it is all they say that might be a decent starting price. But it seems that to get in that price neighborhood a car needs to be something special which red on black with a few odd options or lack there of does not really do it for me.

Trans-Am Camaros / Re: Unusual valve covers and intake ??
« on: October 05, 2018, 06:20:36 PM »
The valve covers kind made me think vintage but the height and width makes me wonder. Most old ones were the small style. I remember seeing spacers for roller rockers in the day. Which was the 70,s.

Originality / Re: Z sticker on glove box

I would get some good pics first and do as others suggest. My trans am had a " this vehicle has been modified by Hurst Performance" in the drivers door jamb which was falling off with a hand written date. I printed several copies on my HP for show after paint. I have the original in my doc folder. It is a small thing but sparks interest in a collector like me.

I wished I knew about the Top Guys when I had my vert. Finding pieces like  pump plug and gromments were a pain. These guys have it all with options.

If it is a driver and local shows the BF Goodrich TA while not stock seems to be the tire of choice for 60, and 70,s cars.
