I guess based on this - there was no silver paint applied to the tabs to blend in with the grill - as i previously that was reasonable - but not done.  Agree, it looks like it was masked off somehow.

Good info

Interesting would be to see a 10-10 car as they had the silver grill - so that means the doors would have silver painted on the edges - reverse of what we see in the above pics.

I wish i can find pics of Richard Mayskum's 10-10 RS Z (i had pics) to see what his doors vs grill would look like.

I have not looked , but is there anything in the assembly manual about applying the black out on certain color cars?

The above pic is how i remember one of the cars, the other "looked like" to be brush applied - but it has been a few years and no pics.

IMO - looking at the pic - value wise to me assuming the rest of the drive train is original, trans and rear, id say

Restoration / Re: Had your moldings flash chromed?
« on: September 03, 2015, 05:37:51 AM »
Recently - depending on the type of restoration your doing - we send the molding out and have them chromed vs polishing.  Price is about the same  - the trim POPs nicely on the car - - long term it does not dull and they chrome process ensures a flawless finish on the moldings.

Just another way to do these if you choose.

Restoration / Re: Jack - Ratcheting Assembly Removal
« on: September 03, 2015, 05:32:02 AM »
We separate (spread)  the ratchet assembly mask slightly so it will slip past the notch on the shaft.  Replate the shaft and paint the mask (ratchet assembly)  - - insert replated shaft and insert into a vise (protect the paint) and slightly squeeze the ratchet assembly back to normal shape.

All done :-)

I know this may cause controversy - but my late 69Z's both have gold iridite finish just like the booster on the nut and lock washer......

I have seem others phosphated as well......
