Originality / Re: '67 RS/SS Pinstripe Delete?
« on: October 22, 2018, 03:55:48 PM »
If it was possible to delete it would it have been a credit? Just wondering? And would it get a special paint code on the trim tag? BTW, there was a black '69 Z at Dallas Mecum auction with the Z stripe delete.

I also don't see any benefit to deleting it.  Don't think I ever saw an original paint car without it.

What clearance does the cam manufacture recommend? It should have come with the cam along with specs on lift and duration.

I think the valve covers have a FORD look to them.

Paper towels wet with white vinegar and laid on the rust will get rid of it in about a day. Then do as mentioned above.

Restoration / Re: Rejuvenating Rubber Hoses
« on: October 05, 2018, 02:03:04 AM »
I have softened many rubber parts, floor mats, door bumpers, pads, etc. with an old time cleaning product called Lestoil.  I even softened a tire to use as a spare for my 1918 DB because it was the right brand. It had been sitting unmounted with an engine on top for decades. SO you can imagine how flat it was. I brushed it all over and sat it in the sun, repeated every day for about 2 weeks. It now fits on the rim and looks like a real tire. It will work BUT, for sure it will take off your lettering. You may be able to fill the hose and soften it from the inside? It takes a few days, maybe 2 or 3. I would practice on another hose with lettering first. Question is if it's available down under. It smells like a petroleum environment killer and burns like hell in a paper cut. good luck.

Good for you, glad you found it. Now where is my carb and air cleaner? I bought the correct carb for my car and had it rebuilt by Daytona. It's SOMEWHERE in my shop still in the plastic bag from them.  I found the box with the right hubcaps, the '63 SS caps. I am running out places to look and the rest of the engine is done,in the frame, painted and ready to fire.

Curtis, looks like you have a good start on your project, One of my best friends had a new '68, same colors and stripe  with a 275hp. We put a 350hp cam in it.

It's a new month and we need new pictures for the home page. How about a picture of this '68?
